Since the morning of September 3, on social networking platforms, many people in Ha Tinh and many provinces and cities have posted information reflecting on their family's electricity bill for August 2025, which unexpectedly increased compared to previous months.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet (Thanh Sen ward) said: “In July, my family used up 447 kwh, the payment was nearly 1,460,000 VND. In August, the use of electronic devices did not increase, even in the second half of the month the weather was cooler and there were storms and power outages, but the amount of electricity consumed was up to 552 kwh and the payment was 1,728,000 VND. I do not understand why it increased so suddenly.”
Mr. V.D. (Thanh Sen ward) shared: “Normally, my family’s electricity bill has never exceeded 1 million VND/month, even during peak months. However, this August, the frequency of using electrical appliances is similar but the bill has doubled compared to last month.”

Not only Mr. Quyet and Mr. D., after Ha Tinh Electricity Company sent the August electricity bill notice, many people expressed their curiosity about why the electricity bill increased while the weather at the end of the month was stormy and rainy, and devices with large power capacity such as air conditioners, electric fans and cooling devices all reduced their frequency of use.
According to people's feedback, the average electricity bill increase for each household in August is from 100,000 - 300,000 VND/household compared to July 2025. In some cases, the electricity bill this month increased by 500,000 - 1,000,000 VND compared to the previous month.
On September 3, Ha Tinh Electricity Company also received feedback and recommendations from a number of customers about the increase in August electricity bills. Upon receiving information from customers, the company directly worked with the people and extracted remote measurement data on the system during the August 2025 billing period, determined the accuracy of the meter in the presence of customers, and disconnected the circuit breaker supplying power to all household loads and checked the parameters on the meter.

This morning (September 4), Ha Tinh Electricity Company coordinated with the following agencies: Department of Science & Technology, Department of Industry and Trade, Provincial Police to directly inspect the electricity meters of some customers who reported an increase in electricity bills in August. With the consent of the customers, the authorities removed some meters for quality inspection.
According to Mr. Phan Van Anh - Head of Business Department (Ha Tinh Electricity Company), in August, the electricity output of domestic customers in the whole province increased by more than 2.2% compared to the previous month. Checking weather information also shows that in the first half of August 2025, Ha Tinh area continued to experience severe heat wave, the electricity consumption demand of customers in the area skyrocketed.
Through monitoring, the Ha Tinh province power grid system recorded a series of new records in operation. Specifically, at 1:00 p.m. on August 4, 2025, the maximum capacity reached 423.2 MW, the highest ever, an increase of 14% compared to the maximum capacity in July 2025. For customers who have specific direct feedback on the increase in electricity bills in August, Ha Tinh Electricity Company works directly, checks and responds thoroughly to customers, thereby ensuring the legitimate rights of customers and strengthening trust in the electricity industry.

The electricity industry also recommends that customers, in order to protect their rights and control spending, each organization, individual, and household should proactively check and monitor daily and monthly electricity consumption to avoid sudden increases in electricity bills without knowing the cause. Customers can do this in many ways such as: checking via the website https://cskh.npc.com.vn/ or downloading the EVNNPC CSKH customer care app of the Northern Power Corporation on their phones to monitor meter readings and daily electricity consumption; checking via the electricity meter at home; contacting the Regional Electricity Management Team when there is a suspicion of an unusual increase in electricity bills for unknown reasons for inspection and handling.
In addition, for households using electricity for daily life, they can proactively calculate their electricity bills according to the progressive price formula. Customers can use online electricity bill calculation tools provided by the electricity industry (on the website https://cskh.npc.com.vn/) or calculate using Excel.

For customers who did not agree with the inspection results, on September 4, Ha Tinh Power Company coordinated with the Technical Center for Standards, Measurement and Quality (Department of Science and Technology) to conduct an inspection of some meters in the area. The inspection results showed that the standards on appearance, technique (display capability, insulation durability), measurement (no-load test, sensitivity threshold, meter constant and counting mechanism, basic error) all met the measurement techniques. After receiving the inspection results, the customers agreed with the results and agreed to pay the meter inspection costs according to the provisions of law.
