Without holding the opening ceremony of the new school year, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has just sent a letter of congratulations on the new school year to staff, lecturers and students.

In the letter, Mr. Tuan said that Typhoon Yagi had disrupted the opening ceremony and welcoming ceremony for new students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Like the students, the teachers were truly sorry for the warm annual event of the school, which was supposed to be held on the occasion of the full moon in August this year.

The school canceled the opening ceremony, and combined the funds with the 200 million VND donated to the people through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi National University. 348 million VND went to 116 students of the school who were in difficulty due to the storm and flood.

In addition, more than 1 billion VND that partners sponsored for students on the occasion of the new school year 2024 - 2025 will continue to be considered by the school and granted to students with excellent academic achievements, policy beneficiaries, and students in difficult circumstances...

"We decided to cancel the opening ceremony but only postpone the welcoming party for new students to a suitable time - perhaps when the autumn sun in Hanoi is more golden, the weather in the capital is more autumnal and the university atmosphere is more familiar to new students!", Mr. Tuan shared.

On September 18, Foreign Trade University held the opening ceremony of the new school year with a special "flower basket" printed with the QR code of the Central Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front so that everyone could contribute to support people affected by storms and floods.

Some universities also said that this year's opening ceremony will be simpler than usual, cutting down on the festivities.
