According to Pcmag , an anonymous source, believed to be working on an iPhone 17 Pro commercial, has just revealed to MacRumors a series of notable camera upgrades of the upcoming flagship model.
Accordingly, the iPhone 17 Pro will be equipped with a telephoto lens that supports 8x optical zoom, superior to the 5x optical zoom on the iPhone 16 Pro.
This upgrade will allow users to capture distant subjects with greater sharpness and detail.
In particular, this new lens is said to be movable, allowing continuous optical zoom at many different focal lengths. This is a rare high-end feature on smartphones.
The source also said that Apple is developing a brand new professional camera app, for both photography and video recording.

It's not yet clear whether this is an upgrade to Final Cut Camera or a standalone app, but it's expected to compete with popular apps like Halide, Kino, or Filmic Pro.
It's likely that the app will be available on the entire iPhone 17 lineup, not just the Pro.
Another notable point, according to Pcmag , is the addition of a Camera Control button.
If the iPhone 16 already has a dedicated button on the bottom right edge used to quickly open the camera and adjust the zoom, the iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to have a second button on the top edge, used to quickly access advanced camera settings.
However, 9to5Mac believes that some details in this leak may not be accurate, especially the addition of physical buttons, which are often revealed by case manufacturers before the product is launched.
Meanwhile, the possibility of Apple launching a new professional camera application is more feasible.
It is expected that iPhone 17 will be announced by Apple next September.
