The gouache works in this exhibition are mostly from artists born in the 1930s and 1940s such as Bui Ngoc Tu, Truong Dinh Hao, Tran Nguyen Dan... - a generation in which images of a Vietnam on the threshold of urbanization such as traditional festivals, thatched roofs or folk games... were probably not unfamiliar in their eyes.

With its quick-drying properties, gouache can both meet the requirements of demonstration in teaching environments and is suitable for sketching - allowing artists to capture fleeting rhythms of everyday life, in a timely, intimate way with an intuitive brushwork without the need for elaborate preparation. In addition to the advantages of low cost, easy preservation, and suitability to hot and humid climates, this material quickly became popular among artists at that time.
The exhibition takes place on the ground floor of the Hotel des Arts Saigon.
