'Makeup wizard' Trinh Xuan Chinh passes away

Makeup artist Trinh Xuan Chinh was born in 1942 in Hanoi . He started out as an actor at the Vietnam Drama Theater. He was then sent to Poland to study makeup for stage and cinema.

Since then, he has been attached to this quiet job. Passionate about the profession, he researched and studied materials and chemicals to serve the makeup work.

Under his hands, the characters on film and stage are transformed in a very unique and vivid way. Therefore, he is known by people in the industry as a "makeup wizard".

Director Le Nguyen Dat said that Mr. Xuan Chinh is one of the veteran teachers of the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. He is a lecturer in the Theater department, specializing in teaching makeup.

He was the teacher of many generations of artists in Ho Chi Minh City. When he was still healthy, Mr. Chinh opened a makeup course at the school. Later, he became weak and retired, and no one could replace him.

"Without him, the school's makeup department would be lost because there would be no one to take over. This is extremely hard work, requiring diligence and creativity. To create a special character, the teacher may have to sit for hours to complete the makeup," said Mr. Dat.

And he also remembers that Mr. Chinh was very dedicated, his works were meticulous and beautiful. Mr. Chinh was often invited to help actors create the character of Uncle Ho, he once successfully made up artist Thanh Dien to play the role of Uncle.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Chinh was in charge of makeup and styling for the films Fate of Love, Moon River Wharf, Seeds of Life ... The stage plays Nang Xe Da, Nguoi Woman Duc Hanh ...

Artist Trinh Xuan Chinh's coffin is lying in state at 51 Nguyen Trai, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The funeral will take place at 4:20 a.m. on September 9, and he will then be cremated at Binh Hung Hoa.
