According to the report of the Customs Department, the total value of import and export of goods from the beginning of the year to June 15, 2025 reached 390.91 billion USD, an increase of 15.3% (equivalent to an increase of 51.84 billion USD) over the same period last year.
Of which, the export value reached 197.88 billion USD, up 13.7% (equivalent to an increase of 23.88 billion USD); the import value reached 193.03 billion USD, up 16.9% (equivalent to an increase of 27.96 billion USD). Vietnam's accumulated trade balance of goods up to the above time had a surplus of 4.84 billion USD, down 45.8% compared to the surplus of the same period last year.

Identifying state budget collection as the key task of the entire industry, the Customs Department has assigned tasks to each unit.
From January 1 to June 15, state budget revenue from import and export activities reached VND 201,414 billion, equal to 49% of the estimate, equal to 42.9% of the target, up 10.7% over the same period in 2024.
Estimated revenue for the first 6 months of 2025 is 221,500 billion VND, with an average daily revenue of 1,850 billion VND, an increase of about 215 billion VND/day compared to the first 6 months of 2024.
Tax debt management and collection work continues to be strengthened, minimizing the occurrence of new debts. Tax debt as of May 31 was VND5,508.05 billion. The accumulated amount of debt collection and settlement from the beginning of the year to the above time is VND193.6 billion.
Notably, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border in the first 6 months of the year continued to be complicated, with many serious cases being discovered.
From December 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, the customs discovered, arrested and handled 8,561 cases of customs law violations, with an estimated value of infringing goods of VND 13,614 billion. The amount of money collected for the state budget reached approximately VND 461.36 billion. The customs initiated 8 cases and transferred 54 cases to other agencies for prosecution.
Implementing the plan for the peak month of fighting against smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin, from May 15 to June 15, units in the entire Customs sector presided over and coordinated with functional forces to detect and arrest 93 violations, with the value of violated goods exceeding VND 1,621 billion.
From December 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, the Customs Department presided over and coordinated with specialized forces to prevent and combat drug-related crimes to detect and arrest 103 cases/110 subjects, of which the Customs Department presided over 43 cases. From December 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, the entire industry conducted 452 post-clearance inspections, including 173 at the customs declarant's headquarters and 279 at the customs agency's headquarters. The total amount of tax imposed and administrative penalties was VND 293.39 billion; the total amount actually collected to the state budget was VND 309.8 billion.
The Customs Department has conducted 11 specialized inspections and issued conclusions from 11 inspections. The total amount of proposed collection in the entire industry is 11,331 billion VND; the state budget is 15,047 billion VND.
In addition, customs conducted 30 internal inspections, concluded 18, and collected 5,709 billion VND for the state budget.
