According to the Customs Department ( Ministry of Finance ), in recent times, the situation of smuggling and trade fraud has continued to develop complicatedly, with many sophisticated tricks and new forms of fraud such as origin fraud, trademark counterfeiting, infringement of intellectual property rights, taking advantage of processing activities, export production, transit, and transshipment business to avoid trade defense measures and economic protection, illegal transportation of goods, etc.
Subject hid nearly 2kg of gold and 4 camera lenses
In order to proactively prevent and combat, the leaders of the Customs Department have directed units to strengthen the application of professional measures, promptly detect, combat, prevent, arrest and strictly handle violations. Accordingly, at about 10:00 a.m. on June 25, 2025, through professional measures, risk control along with analyzing luggage screening images at exit gate A1, Noi Bai International Airport Customs found that in the luggage of passenger CPH (Taiwanese, Chinese nationality) entering on flight VN579 from Taiwan (China) to Noi Bai ( Hanoi , Vietnam), there were suspicious objects in 4 camera lenses. Immediately afterwards, the Customs force at Noi Bai International Airport presided over and coordinated with the Anti-smuggling Control Team No. 1 - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department (Customs Department) and the Noi Bai International Airport Police Station to inspect all the luggage of the passenger CPH and discovered that this passenger was carrying 12 pieces of yellow metal (suspected to be gold) weighing nearly 2 kg hidden in a camera lens in a suitcase, worth about more than 5.5 billion VND.
All exhibits and subjects were handed over by Noi Bai International Airport Customs to PC03 - Hanoi City Police for handling according to regulations.
