Clearing bombs and mines on nearly 600,000 m2 of land in Vinh Hoang commune

QTO - Information from the NPA/RENEW Bomb and Mine Clearance Project said that the unit's four bomb and mine clearance teams have been working hard to clear dozens of cluster bombs and explosives in Vinh Hoang commune, Quang Tri province to return hundreds of thousands of square meters of clean land to the people after nearly 1.5 months of implementation.

Specifically, from mid-June 2025 to present, NPA/RENEW's mine clearance teams have been cleaning up land contaminated with mines in Thuy Trung village, Vinh Hoang commune, Quang Tri province. After nearly 1.5 months of hard work, the teams have cleared nearly 600,000m² of land, discovered and safely destroyed 75 cluster bombs and 76 other explosives.

Currently, the mine clearance teams are continuing their work until the end of November 2025. The goal is to clean up all of the more than 1.4 million square meters of contaminated land in this locality. It is known that in Thuy Trung village, Vinh Hoang commune, there have been 20 mine accidents. This mine clearance activity not only eliminates the decades-long danger, but also opens up opportunities for sustainable economic development for the community.
