Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi ) launched the Applied Arts and Folk Arts Exhibition Space after two years of construction, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

With the opening of this modern exhibition space, crab baskets, fish baskets of the Muong people, betel boxes, phoenix-wing shoes, masks, conical hats, phoenix-shaped men... of the Kinh people, brocade pieces, relics, and traditional musical instruments are displayed in a solemn and beautiful space.

Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh said that applied arts and folk arts include types of folk paintings, statues, and household items that reflect spiritual life, sophisticated professional skills, creativity, national identity, and aesthetic values of Vietnamese culture, an indispensable part of the historical development of Vietnamese fine arts.

This is also the reason why these two exhibitions always attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit and study.

The exhibition space for applied art and folk art was previously displayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors of building B of the museum.

After many years of serving the public, the equipment has deteriorated, lost its aesthetic value and no longer meets the needs of visitors.

A professional display system with glass cabinets, shelves, colors and lights has just been launched, highlighting the aesthetic elements of each artifact. Along with that is the application of 3D mapping projection technology, interactive screens for information lookup, increasing the multi-sensory experience for visitors.

Mr. Minh said that the collection of Applied Fine Arts and Folk Fine Arts at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is still very rich, while the exhibition space is limited, so the museum has a plan to periodically rotate and change the artifacts, contributing to diversifying and enriching this exhibition space.
