Durian price today September 4: Market stable at high level

On September 4, domestic durian prices remained high, with Ri6 and Thai durian prices ranging from 40,000 to 105,000 VND/kg. Exports to China faced many challenges.

On September 4, the domestic durian market remained stable, with some places recording a slight decrease of VND1,000-2,000/kg. Prices in the Southeast and Central Highlands fluctuated around high levels, especially for Thai and VIP durian varieties.

Durian price today September 4 in the Southeast region

In the Southeast, Ri6 durian type A is commonly priced at 40,000 - 46,000 VND/kg, type B is around 26,000 - 30,000 VND/kg, type C is maintained at 24,000 - 26,000 VND/kg.

Thai durian grade A ranges from 78,000 to 86,000 VND/kg, grade B 58,000 to 66,000 VND/kg, grade C 42,000 to 46,000 VND/kg. VIP A is purchased for up to 100,000 VND/kg, VIP B is about 80,000 VND/kg.

Durian price today September 4 in the Central Highlands region

In the Central Highlands, prices are somewhat higher. Ri6 grade A is from 42,000 - 48,000 VND/kg, grade B is 28,000 - 34,000 VND/kg. Thai durian grade A ranges from 80,000 - 88,000 VND/kg, grade B is 60,000 - 68,000 VND/kg.

Thai VIP A variety is 100,000 - 105,000 VND/kg, VIP B is 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg. In addition, Musang King type A is kept at 65,000 - 75,000 VND/kg, type B is 52,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

Exports and quality pressure

Although the domestic market is stable, durian exports to China remain a hot spot. This market accounts for the majority of Vietnam’s durian output, but is tightening quality control, causing the rate of products meeting A and B standards to decrease. The rainy weather also affects the yield, appearance and sweetness of the fruit.

According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit), the export turnover of fruits and vegetables in August reached nearly 759 million USD, a slight decrease compared to the previous month. However, the total figure of 4.63 billion USD for the first 8 months of the year was only 2.1% lower than the same period last year, reflecting a clear recovery. Of which, durian contributed about 40% of the total value of the industry, continuing to play a key role.
