Notably, the number of visitors in August 2025 increased by 7.8% compared to the previous month. Although it is still the low season for international tourism , the positive growth results in July and August have shown positive signals for the inbound tourism market.
Of these, the two markets of China and South Korea contributed nearly half of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. Of which, China continued to be the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with more than 3.5 million arrivals (accounting for 25.4%). South Korea ranked second, reaching over 2.9 million arrivals (accounting for 20.9%).
The next positions are Taiwan (ranked 3rd, 839 thousand arrivals), the US (ranked 4th, 573 thousand arrivals), Japan (ranked 5th, 540 thousand arrivals). In the top 10 largest markets of Vietnamese tourism, there are also Cambodia (445 thousand arrivals), India (443 thousand arrivals), Russia (377 thousand arrivals), Australia (358 thousand arrivals), Malaysia (344 thousand arrivals).
In the first 8 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached over 13.9 million, up 21.7% over the same period last year. The growth drivers came from Europe (up 33.2%), Asia (up 21.3%), Australia (up 14%), America (up 9.1%) and Africa (up 4.7%).
Major markets recorded high growth rates, including China, Japan, India, Cambodia (+50.7%). In particular, the Russian market continued to grow very rapidly (164.9%). The remarkable development of the Russian tourist market is the result of the tourism promotion and advertising program in Russia by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities and businesses in recent times.
Southeast Asian markets grew well, including the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
The Indian market has also been growing steadily, reflecting the great potential of this market. This September, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is organizing a tourism promotion program in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The program is organized to consolidate and strengthen the presence of Vietnamese tourism in the Indian market.
European markets continued to grow strongly in the first 8 months of the year, including major markets such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, etc.
Recently, the Government issued a resolution to expand visa exemption for 12 more European countries, opening up good opportunities to attract visitors from this region.
Not only did the number of visitors increase in August, but during the September 2 holiday, the tourism industry also recorded a high number of visitors nationwide. According to information from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, during the 4-day holiday (from August 30 to September 2, 2025), it is estimated that the tourism industry nationwide served about 5.5 million tourists, an increase of 83.3% over the same period in 2024.
Besides Hanoi , many localities also recorded a large number of tourists, such as: Ho Chi Minh City (estimated to welcome 1.45 million visitors, of which international visitors are estimated at about 45,600); Hai Phong (estimated to welcome 1.03 million visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2024; of which, international visitors reached 29,518); Khanh Hoa (estimated to welcome 907,952 visitors, an increase of 10.35% over the same period in 2024); Da Nang (estimated to welcome over 620,000 visitors, an increase of 24% over the same period in 2024, of which over 168,000 international visitors); Lam Dong (estimated to welcome 590,000 visitors, an increase of 6.8% over 2024; of which international visitors are estimated at about 10,500) ...
