Export rice price
In the international market, Vietnam's rice export prices have remained stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 25% broken rice is currently priced at $368 per ton, 100% broken rice at $335 per ton, and 5% broken rice at $389 per ton.
Meanwhile, Thailand – Vietnam’s major export competitor – reported a sharp decline in export volume. In the first 7 months of the year, the country sold 4.3 million tons of rice, down 25% compared to the same period last year, with export value down 35.4%. The reasons came from the appreciation of the baht and fierce competition from other countries, especially when India resumed exports.
However, Thailand still maintained positive exports to some markets such as the US and China, while stepping up promotion in the Middle East and Japan to offset the decline.
