Rice price today September 4: Raw rice price increased slightly, market improved

On September 4, domestic rice prices were basically stable, with raw rice prices increasing by 50-100 VND/kg. The trading market was more active, and export prices remained high.

On September 4, the domestic rice market remained stable, with some raw rice products increasing by 50-100 VND/kg. In the Mekong Delta, trading activities were more active than at the beginning of the week, but price fluctuations were still not large.

Rice price developments in localities

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, the price of fresh rice remains stable.

Specifically, OM 18 is purchased at around 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; IR 50404 at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 remains at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 fluctuates at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is also around 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; OM 308 at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg.

Some areas such as Vinh Long, Can Tho and Dong Thap recorded more steady purchases from traders, but prices remained stagnant.

Raw rice prices increased slightly

In the raw rice group, the market adjusted up. CL 555 rice increased by 100 VND/kg, reaching 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg; IR 504 rice increased by 50 VND/kg, both fluctuating at 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg.

Other types remained stable: OM 5451 at 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 380 fluctuated at 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg, OM 18 from 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 was at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, IR 504 fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Retail price at market and by-products

In the traditional markets, the common rice prices have not changed. Nang Nhen rice remains at the highest level of 28,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai at 22,000 VND/kg, regular rice fluctuates at 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice from 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg. Jasmine, Nang Hoa or Japanese fragrant rice are all stable at around 16,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.

By-products generally remain unchanged, OM 504 broken rice fluctuates at 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg, bran remains at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg, rice husks are around 1,400 - 1,500 VND/kg.

Export prices remain high

In the international market, Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. 5% broken fragrant rice fluctuated at 455-460 USD/ton, Jasmine rice at 545-549 USD/ton, 100% broken rice at 333-337 USD/ton. Vietnam still maintains higher export prices than its competitors India, Thailand and Pakistan, thereby maintaining its competitive advantage.
