On the morning of August 18, in Pleiku ward, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province solemnly held a conference to promote exports to the Chinese market in 2025. The event attracted more than 300 delegates, including leaders of central and local ministries, branches, enterprises, cooperatives in the province and a business delegation from Guangxi (China).
The conference is a key activity to promote the export of agricultural products, handicrafts and key OCOP products of Gia Lai province to the Chinese market.
This is a strategic step in forming production and consumption chains, supporting local businesses to promote products, find partners and expand international distribution systems.
In his opening speech, Comrade Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that after the merger, Gia Lai has the second largest area in the country with more than 1.4 million hectares of agricultural land, most of which is red basalt soil, very suitable for high-value crops such as coffee, pepper, banana, rubber, etc.
In May 2008, Vietnam and China officially established a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. This is a solid foundation for the development of economic relations between the two countries, promoting the strong growth of import and export turnover between the two countries, and the structure of export goods has changed in a positive direction.
Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that China is one of Vietnam's leading trade partners .
Export turnover to China in 2024 will reach nearly 61 billion USD, accounting for more than 15% of the country's total export turnover.
However, to export products, the requirements from foreign partners in general and China in particular, regarding quality, traceability, packaging standards, preservation and distribution channels are increasingly strict and methodical.
This poses significant challenges for businesses, cooperatives, farming households and state management agencies in localities.
At the conference, representatives of Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises presented papers and proposed a number of solutions focusing on improving product quality, traceability, and applying AI technology in managing growing areas and deep processing of agricultural products.
On behalf of China, Mr. Chu Hau Nham, Guangxi Big Data Bureau, highly appreciated the potential for cooperation with Gia Lai in the fields of agricultural products, logistics and digital technology.
At the conference, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Gia Lai enterprises and Chinese enterprises.
Under the witness of leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee and departments, 7 MOU signing sessions took place, opening up specific cooperation prospects in agricultural product export, raw material area development and product distribution in the Chinese market.
