Update domestic coffee prices today
Coffee prices today, August 5, slightly decreased in the Central Highlands, in the context of the international market being under pressure from geopolitics and the new US tax policy.
After a series of fluctuations in July, the Vietnamese coffee market is slowing down and entering an accumulation phase. Domestic prices have recorded a slight decrease, while the world market is under great pressure from the new US trade policy and the export movement from Brazil to China.
In the Central Highlands region, coffee prices today, August 5, decreased from 500 to 600 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Specifically:
Dak Lak : 99,000 VND/kg (500 VND discount)
Lam Dong: 98,700 VND/kg (down 500 VND)
Gia Lai: 98,800 VND/kg (down 600 VND)
Lam Dong (former Dak Nong): 99,000 VND/kg (down 500 VND)

Vietnamese coffee exports to the increasingly strict EU market
Vietnam is currently the world's second largest coffee exporter, with more than 90% of its output destined for the international market. The European Union (EU) is the largest consumer market, accounting for 40% of total exports.
However, the EU's new EUDR regulation, which will come into effect at the end of 2025, requires imported coffee to be deforestation-free and traceable to each plot of land.
Early 2025 survey shows:
More than 50% of households do not record when harvesting.
96% of planted area before 2020, but lack of legal documents
Many households do not have land use right certificates, especially in ethnic minority areas.
Failure to prove legality means many areas do not meet standards for export to the EU.
World coffee prices today
According to the latest data, world coffee prices have fallen sharply on two major exchanges. Specifically:
On the ICE Futures Europe exchange, the price of Robusta coffee for September 2025 delivery is currently at 3,428 USD/ton (up 98 USD/ton), and for November 2025 delivery is currently at 3,336 USD/ton (up 77 USD/ton).
On the ICE Futures US exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery is currently at 292.25 cents/lb (up 8.05 cents/lb), and for November 2025 delivery is currently at 285 cents/lb (up 7.45 cents/lb).
China opens door to Brazilian coffee imports amid tensions with US
China has just granted licenses to 183 Brazilian companies to export coffee to its market, starting from July 30. This is an important step in the context of the US announcing a 50% import tax on coffee and many Brazilian products, effective from August 6.
Last year, Brazil accounted for a third of total U.S. coffee demand, or about 8 million bags a year. Therefore, finding alternative markets has become urgent for Brazilian exporters.
