Rashford at risk of 'training alone'

Marcus Rashford faces the risk of not being able to play for Barcelona in La Liga next season due to registration problems.

Rashford has not been registered as the new season is about to start.

Rashford just scored his first goal for Barca in a 5-0 win over Daegu FC in South Korea on the evening of August 4. However, the English striker is not sure to play in the Spanish domestic arena, if Barca cannot complete the registration procedure before the opening day of La Liga, with the match against Real Mallorca on August 16.

Rashford is determined to move to Barca to start over. However, his dream of playing for the Spanish team could be crushed if La Liga does not give him the green light. In the worst case, the 27-year-old striker can only train with the first team and play friendly matches, while La Liga will be a no-go zone.

The problem is not new, but it is a persistent pain for Barca. For more than 3 years, the Camp Nou team has continuously encountered difficulties in registering players due to financial limitations. In the summer of 2024, they once circumvented the law to register Dani Olmo in time, but clearly this is not a sustainable way.

President Joan Laporta is struggling to ensure Barcelona have a strong enough squad and are eligible to compete in La Liga. Lionel Messi was forced to leave Camp Nou because Barca could not register him in the squad.

Despite the bleak situation, Rashford remains optimistic. "It's the club's job," he told the media. "I believe they will resolve it. My job is to focus on training and getting ready for the new season."

Rashford shines after leaving MU Marcus Rashford contributed to Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Daegu on the evening of August 4.
