Dung Quat Biofuel Plant will officially resume ethanol production for blending E10 biofuel in November this year.
The above information was given by Mr. Pham Van Vuong - Director of Central Petroleum Biofuel Joint Stock Company ( BSR -BF) - the unit managing and operating the plant, at a meeting with the leaders of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (stock code: BSR) on September 1. The units are focusing all their efforts to speed up the maintenance progress of the plant, the progress is monitored daily with the goal of completion before October 31.
This preparation step is an important step for Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical to implement the green fuel conversion roadmap according to the orientation of the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group ( Petrovietnam ) and the Government.

Dung Quat Biofuel Plant has a capacity of 100 million liters of ethanol per year, using dried cassava chips as the main raw material. When put back into operation, the plant, together with Dung Quat Oil Refinery, will help Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical optimize the supply chain, increase product value, contribute to ensuring energy security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and developing clean, environmentally friendly fuels.
This urgent move is also a concrete step in the process of realizing Vietnam's goal of sustainable development, circular economy and carbon neutrality (Net Zero) by 2050.
According to the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from January 1, 2026, all commercial gasoline on the market will switch to E10 gasoline. With domestic gasoline consumption estimated at about 12-15 million m3/year, the amount of ethanol needed for blending is about 1.2-1.5 million m3/year.
Meanwhile, domestic ethanol production capacity currently only reaches 450,000 m3/year, equivalent to 40% of demand, the rest must be imported.
