Vietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) said that on the first day of pilot sales of E10 bio-fuel in Hanoi and Hai Phong, 6 stores in Hanoi and Hai Phong sold nearly 10,000 liters of E10 RON 95 gasoline.
Specifically, as of August 1, the amount of E10 gasoline consumed in Hanoi was 6,279 liters, of which Thai Thinh gas station (Dong Da ward) was 1,362 liters; Nghia Tan gas station (Nghia Do ward) was 3,092 liters; Lien Ninh gas station (Ngoc Hoi commune) was 1,529 liters and Chau Can gas station (Chieu My commune) was 296 liters.
The amount of E10 RON 95 gasoline consumed in Hai Phong City was 3,400 liters, of which Thanh To gas station (Hai An ward) sold 1,200 liters and Tan Duong gas station (Thuy Nguyen ward) sold 2,200 liters.
Previously, according to Dan Tri reporters' records on August 1, the retail price of E10 RON 95 gasoline was listed by stores at VND19,600/liter, about VND240/liter cheaper than the current price of RON 95-III mineral gasoline (VND19,840/liter).
Most people still prefer to choose RON 95 mineral gasoline because there is not much information about the new fuel. However, when listening to the store staff's introduction, some people expressed their support for testing the new E10 gasoline. However, many consumers still expressed concerns about compatibility and the risk of vehicle damage.

E10 gasoline is a finished gasoline product blended from mineral gasoline derived from fossil fuels along with biofuels, in which fuel alcohol is blended in a certain ratio.
According to domestic and international studies, ethanol has a high oxygen content, which helps improve the combustion process of the fuel mixture; therefore, E10 gasoline can help reduce carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions by up to 20% compared to traditional mineral gasoline.
According to the Government 's roadmap, E10 biofuel will gradually replace mineral gasoline on the market, expected to be put into mass use from the beginning of 2026.
Due to the "water-absorbing" properties of E10 gasoline, there are some notes for consumers during use even with vehicles compatible with this type of gasoline.
Specifically, if you do not use your car for 3-4 weeks, drain the gas tank or consider using a gasoline stabilizer. The reason is that E10 gasoline has a "hydrophilic" property, which can easily cause the water-hydrated ethanol and gasoline to separate after a few weeks, especially when the car is stationary for a long time; water and ethanol settle to the bottom, while gasoline floats to the top.
The water will cause the fuel tank to rust and when the vehicle is used again, water will get in and damage the fuel pump. In addition, when there is a separation phenomenon, the upper part of the gasoline has a lower octane rating than the original, because the ethanol carries part of the octane rating when separating from the solution.
The shelf life of E10 is typically 3 months, under ideal conditions. After this time, the risk of separation increases, especially if the fuel is exposed to high humidity environments.
However, it is difficult for consumers to know when the gasoline was produced when they put it in their car, so many experts recommend draining the gas tank after 3-4 weeks of not using the car. In addition, car owners should change the fuel filter more often.
