China's Lang Zheng, the baby boy who became famous after being rescued after the Sichuan earthquake 15 years ago, scored 637/750 points in the Gaokao and was invited by two top universities.
Lang Zheng's scores for each subject are: Literature 129 points, Math 126 points, English 143 points, Social Science Combination (Geography, History, Politics ) 239 points. This result helps Lang enter the top 30 candidates with the highest university entrance exam scores in Sichuan province.
Chinese media reported that Lang had received admission offers from Peking University and Renmin University of China. These are two prestigious universities that are very selective in their admissions. Peking University is also ranked in the top 20 universities in the world and second in Asia.
"I was very surprised. I didn't think I would do so well," Lang said of his score.

Lang Zheng moved people across China when a photo of him taken after the magnitude 8.0 earthquake in Sichuan province 15 years ago went viral. The disaster left 87,000 people dead or missing.
Lang, then only 3 years old, was trapped in the rubble for nearly 20 hours, his left arm injured. When a group of soldiers discovered and rescued him, he raised his right hand in a flag salute as a thank you. Since then, Lang has been nicknamed "the flag boy".
Lang Zheng is currently 1m85 tall, likes playing basketball, and is passionate about Literature, History, and Politics. The male student said he will pursue History and International Relations at Peking University.
"I plan to become a civil servant or do similar jobs in the future, serving the people, so as not to let down the many people who have cared for and helped me," Lang said.

This year’s college entrance examination (Gaokao) in China began on June 7, setting a record with nearly 13 million students taking part. Candidates must complete four exams, including: Literature, Foreign Language, Mathematics and a combined exam in Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Social Sciences (Geography, History, Politics).
The maximum score on the test is 750. Typically, to gain admission to top schools, candidates need to score more than 600 points. However, few candidates achieve that score. In 2021, only 3% of candidates in Guangdong, China's most populous province, scored above 600 points.
