The knockout round of the 9-ball World Championship 2025 took place on July 24 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Just 24 hours after his 9-1 win in the winner's bracket against Daniel Maciol, fate once again brought Hoang Sao to meet his Polish opponent in the knockout round (64 players) taking place on the evening of July 24, Vietnam time.

In this rematch, Maciol entered the match with determination to reclaim the previous heavy loss. This match was a bit more difficult for Duong Quoc Hoang, as the Vietnamese player was not really "in the game" in the first half of the match and let his opponent take the lead. But then everything went back to normal, Hoang Sao started to make good breaks and handled the single balls accurately.

In the end, Hoang Sao won 11-6 against Polish young champion Daniel Maciol. With this victory, Hoang Sao officially entered the round of 32 players of the World Pool Championship 2025.

In another development, Luong Duc Thien gave Vietnamese pool fans a heart attack. At one point, the Vietnamese player was leading 8-1 against Hsu Jui An (Taiwan). But then, Duc Thien let his opponent take the lead 9-8. Fortunately, Duc Thien woke up in time and successfully reversed the situation to win 11-9 against Hsu Jui An.

Thus, Vietnamese billiards has 2 representatives entering the round of 32 of the World Pool Championship 2025, Duong Quoc Hoang and Luong Duc Thien.
