On June 7, candidates in Ho Chi Minh City completed the final exam for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025. Although this is the first year of taking the exam under the new program, many teachers predict that the 10th grade entrance exam scores in Ho Chi Minh City this year will increase slightly.
The average score for the 10th grade math exam will be 6-7.
"Compared to last year, this year's math test is easier. Compared to the sample test of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the official test is also somewhat easier" - Mr. Nguyen Duc Tan, math teacher at Thang Long Cultural Training Center, commented.
Teacher Tan explained: "The test questions are quite familiar, so average students who study hard can still get 5-6 points. Question 6a is a bit strange but not difficult, candidates can solve it if they think a little. Only questions 6b and 7c are really for good students, perhaps these are questions used to differentiate candidates.
With the exam like this year, the average score will be 6-7 points. There will also be more 8 points than last year. However, the number of candidates achieving 9 and 10 points will be limited, predicted to be only equivalent to recent years."
Regarding English, Ms. Hua Thi Diem Tram, principal of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School, Binh Thanh District, commented: "This year's English exam clearly shows the requirement to apply language to life. In the first year of taking the exam according to the new program, although secondary schools in the city used different textbooks, the exam still covered the issues.
The questions are quite moderate but there are still questions to classify candidates. Therefore, average students will easily get more than 5 points. Good students will get 8-9 points. Only students who are really careful and really good can get 10 points in English this year.
I predict the English exam score will be the same or slightly better than last year."
How is the test graded?
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the department has established a grade 10 exam marking council consisting of an exam marking committee, a secretariat and a marking committee. Each committee has its own duties and powers and coordinates closely with each other under the direction of the chairman of the exam marking council (a department leader).
In which, the marking team will receive the completed test papers from the secretariat and mark the test papers according to a two-round independent process. The head of the marking team will manage and organize the marking of the test papers; plan, organize discussions on marking instructions, answers, and coordinate the general marking, exchange experiences during the marking process...
It is known that the secretariat of the examination board will receive and preserve the candidates' exam papers (packed in sealed boxes) from the examination boards; manage the exam results and related documents; perform score matching and summarize exam scores; manage exam score data (enter scores, compare and check with the scoring results, analyze score distribution, match and score, prepare data to announce results, receive and process appeal requests...).
The exam papers and the exam scorecards will be kept by the exam marking council in a separate, locked, sealed cabinet or warehouse with 24/7 security. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, members of the secretariat are not allowed to participate in the exam question making council, the exam score making committee, the exam marking committee and the review committee.
Waiting anxiously for the answer
In literature, most candidates said they could do the test when the test questions were about topics close to the age of 9th grade students.
"The rest is the answer. We are anxiously waiting to see what the department's answer is. This year's literature exam is considered to be as open as possible, so will the answer be open or not? If the answer is also unified in the same spirit as the exam, this year's literature score will be higher than last year. Especially for average and good students" - a literature teacher in District 1 commented.
