Donnarumma stuck between PSG and Man City |
Despite reaching a personal agreement with Manchester City, the Italian goalkeeper has yet to leave Paris as negotiations between PSG and the English team have reached a deadlock.
Coach Luis Enrique dropped Donnarumma from his plans before the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur. The quiet farewell at the Parc des Princes last weekend marked the end of four turbulent years for the 26-year-old goalkeeper at PSG. The capital club spent 40 million euros (possibly up to 55 million) to recruit Lucas Chevalier from Lille, and the young Frenchman will be the number one choice this season.
On the other hand, Man City is not ready to "take action". Pep Guardiola has James Trafford for 31 million euros, and is only waiting for Ederson to complete the deal to Galatasaray before considering Donnarumma.
However, the process has been slow, with PSG rejecting an offer of less than €20 million from Man City. The Ligue 1 champions have confirmed that they are only considering a minimum bid of €30 million.
With the French transfer window closing at 11pm next Monday, both PSG and Donnarumma are keen to wrap up the deal quickly. However, if there is no breakthrough, Italy's number one goalkeeper will likely be forced to sit on the bench until January 2026 - a huge risk to his ambition to keep his starting spot at the World Cup.
