Vietnam national team gathers; Hung Dung and Van Quyet return

Coach Philippe Troussier has announced his selection of many new faces in the list of the Vietnamese team to train and compete in friendly matches during FIFA Days in September 2023.

Among the familiar faces to the team's fans, it is worth noting the return of midfielder Do Hung Dung after a period of absence due to injury and veteran striker Nguyen Van Quyet - the domestic striker who scored the most goals in V-League 2023.

Besides, the return of names like Nguyen Duc Chien and Duong Thanh Hao also received many expectations in the call-up list.

Nguyen Duc Chien was called up to the Vietnam national team to participate in the third qualifying round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Asia in February 2022.

Meanwhile, Duong Van Hao is known as one of the pillars in the U19 Vietnam team that created a historic feat by qualifying for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Unfortunately, a year after that resounding U20 World Cup, Duong Van Hao suffered a very serious injury in a match in the 2018 First Division, and almost had to retire.

But thanks to his strong will and persistent efforts, Duong Van Hao miraculously returned to top-level football when he was able to enter the field in Viettel 's match against Hoang Anh Gia Lai in round 2 of V-League 2020.

Since then, Duong Van Hao has shown an amazing revival. Being included in the list of the Vietnamese national team this time is a recognition of the extremely strong will and desire of the midfielder born in 1997.

In addition, with the goal of building the most optimal force for the team towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Asia, coach Philippe Troussier also gave opportunities to many new faces.

These include: defender Hoang Thai Binh of Dong A Thanh Hoa, midfielder Nguyen Huu Son, Pham Trung Hieu of Hai Phong, Le Pham Thanh Long of Dong A Thanh Hoa, Pham Van Luan of Hanoi Police and striker Vu Quang Nam of Hong Linh Ha Tinh.

These are the faces that have impressed coach Philippe Troussier in the V-League matches and promise to increase the competitiveness in the Vietnamese national team lineup in the coming time.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will start training from September 1. On September 11, the team will play an international friendly match with the Palestinian team at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh . This is also the only match of the Vietnamese team during FIFA Days in September 2023.
