Vietnam women's volleyball team enters the world stage

Today (August 22), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will have their opening match against Poland at the World Championship. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will begin their journey to accumulate necessary experience.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team participating in the 2025 World Championship will not have the service of Bich Tuyen. This setter withdrew from the team for personal reasons before the tournament. The coaching staff registered 13 players to participate in this world tournament including Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Pham Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Khanh Dang.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is also the only team among the participating teams to register 13 players. The 2025 World Volleyball Championship regulations stipulate that each team can register a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 14. Teams registering 14 players will comply with the regulations: 12 players, 2 liberos. Teams registering 13 players will comply with the regulations: 11 players, 2 liberos.

Bich Tuyen's absence forced the coaching staff to find an alternative. The team has Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh playing this position. In the training sessions before the tournament, the team's main striker and captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was tested in the opposite setter position.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: “The team had to change the main squad and the main striker position on the field. Fortunately, we have Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh who has played for a long time with the national team. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy used to play the opposite position, we will decide the official lineup depending on the situation of each match and the developments on the field.”

This is the first time the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team has participated in the World Championship. The Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team is in Group G with Poland, Germany and Kenya. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "The European teams are playing with superior skills. We predict that the Vietnamese players will have difficulty against Poland and Germany. The Kenyan team has also prepared. The team will maintain the best spirit to compete in each match at the tournament."

On the world stage, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has set a rather modest goal for the team. In the announcement, it stated: “With the main goal of competing and learning from the experiences of leading teams and demonstrating a courageous competitive spirit, the Vietnam Team is determined to create memorable marks at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship.”

Before leaving for Thailand, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team played friendly matches with Spain and Kenya. These were quality matches before entering the official tournament. This was an important preparation for the coaching staff to point out the weaknesses of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.

Looking further, the main goal of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is the 33rd SEA Games Gold Medal. Our participation in the AVC Nations Cup, VTV Cup 2025, SEA V.League 2025 and World Championship tournaments are professional preparations to serve the above goal.

Returning to the world championship, in the opening match, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face Poland. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet commented: "This is an opportunity for the players to compete to the best of their abilities. Hopefully, the Vietnamese players will be confident in their performance to have good moves."

Duc Giang Chemicals Team will participate in the tournament in Korea

Duc Giang Chemicals Team accepted an invitation to participate in the Kovo Cup 2025 Women's Volleyball Tournament which will compete in Seoul (Korea).

The team's coaching staff representative said the tournament will take place from September 21 to September 28. The Duc Giang Chemicals team will bring its best team to the tournament with the goal of gaining experience.

The tournament gathered eight teams. In addition to the Duc Giang Chemicals team, the remaining seven representatives were Korean women's volleyball teams including Suwon Hyundai E&C Hillstate, Daejeon Jungkwanjang Red Sparks, GS Caltex Seoul KIXX, Hwaseong IBK Altos, Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders, Gimcheon Korea Expressway Hi-Pass, Gwangju Pepper Savings Bank AI PEPPERS. In particular, the GS Caltex Seoul KIXX team is where the middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy of Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals played for earlier this year.

Currently, head coach Nguyen Huu Ha and Duc Giang Chemical players are practicing at Dong Anh Stadium ( Hanoi ).

The current runner-up of Vietnam women's volleyball team is currently training to prepare for the second stage of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.

At the end of the first phase, the team temporarily ranked fifth. The opportunity for Duc Giang Chemicals to rise to the top group in the second phase of the tournament is still not over.

For now, the players will focus on competing in Korea and this is an opportunity for the coaching staff to test their skills after a period of training. ( HH )
