The Vietnam Road Administration has just reported to the Ministry of Construction to propose an investment policy for the Project to upgrade and expand a number of sections and traffic congestion treatment works on National Highway 1 through the provinces of Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and Vinh Long.
Including Vinh Long bypass. The project is proposed to be invested according to the scale of the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister with a level III plain highway, a design speed of 80 km/h, and a complete scale of 4 lanes.
The Vinh Long bypass has a total length of 7.3km. The starting point is in Tan Ngai ward, the ending point is in Tan Hanh ward. The total estimated investment is 1,646 billion VND from the state budget in the medium-term investment plan for the period 2026-2030.
According to the Vietnam Road Administration, this is a two-lane road that has become a traffic bottleneck in the city. The study proposes investing in sections of the bypass to ensure the planned four-lane scale to minimize the risk of traffic safety loss and to be consistent with the sections of national highways that have been invested in.
