Pig price increases again

Báo Cần ThơBáo Cần Thơ11/09/2025

(CT) - After a period of falling to a low level, the price of live pigs in many localities in the Mekong Delta has increased again by 2,000-3,000 VND/kg compared to about 2 weeks ago. The price of live pigs is being bought by traders and businesses at 59,000-60,000 VND/kg, while previously it was only 56,000-58,000 VND/kg. The price has increased due to a decrease in supply because the number of live pigs ready for sale in many localities has decreased compared to before, as well as because many households have reduced their herds in the past. Although the price of live pigs has improved, many households are still cautious in herd restoration. Compared to the same period in 2024, the price of live pigs in many localities in the Mekong Delta is 3,000-5,000 VND/kg lower.

Prices of some fertilizers decreased

(CT) - Currently, the prices of some types of nitrogen fertilizer (urea) and DAP have decreased by about 10,000-30,000 VND/bag (50kg) compared to 1 month ago. The price has decreased due to abundant supply and weak consumption, especially when the Mekong Delta enters the rainy season. Currently, the demand for fertilizer in many regions in the country has also decreased. The prices of Phu My fertilizer, Ca Mau fertilizer and many types of urea imported from China are retailed at agricultural supply stores in Can Tho city and many provinces in the Mekong Delta at 680,000-730,000 VND/bag, while previously it was 690,000-750,000 VND/bag. The price of DAP Ca Mau, DAP China Hong Ha green grain and DAP green grain Tuong Phong are sold at many stores at 1,200,000-1,370,000 VND/bag... Although the price has decreased, in general, the price of fertilizers is still quite high because the price has increased sharply in recent times.

Fertilizers are displayed for sale at an agricultural supplies store in Can Tho City.

Jackfruit prices increase

(CT) - Due to reduced supply and increased demand for jackfruit for export, the price of many types of jackfruit in the Mekong Delta has increased from 12,000-14,000 VND/kg compared to about 3 weeks ago. In many places, the price of super early jackfruit type 1 (Thai jackfruit variety) sold by farmers to traders and jackfruit purchasing warehouses is only 25,000-27,000 VND/kg, while previously it was only 12,000-13,000 VND/kg. The price of red-fleshed jackfruit type 1 (Indonesian jackfruit variety) has increased from 18,000-19,000 VND/kg to 30,000-31,000 VND/kg. The price of red-fleshed jackfruit grade 2 is at 19,000-20,000 VND/kg, grade 3 is around 10,000 VND/kg... Recently, many types of jackfruit have been increased by traders and businesses to serve export, creating conditions for price increases. Currently, the supply of jackfruit in many localities has also decreased due to the end of the harvest season.
