Pig market in the North
On the morning of July 26, up to 9 northern provinces and cities recorded price adjustments, mostly down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day, with prices ranging from 60,000 to 62,000 VND/kg, showing that the increase has temporarily stopped.
In more detail, provinces such as Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh simultaneously lowered prices to 61,000 VND/kg.
Lai Chau and Dien Bien currently hold the lowest price in the region, only 60,000 VND/kg.
Some localities including Hanoi , Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Phu Tho and Son La are still maintaining the regional peak at 62,000 VND/kg today.
This decrease is notable because the price of live pigs in the North has remained stable for a long time, and if purchasing power does not improve, the possibility of prices continuing to stagnate is possible.
Pig market in the Central Highlands region
On July 26, the Central and Central Highlands regions continued to be hot spots with a sharp price decline trend.
Of which, Quang Tri recorded a sharp drop, down to 59,000 VND/kg - the lowest level in many weeks.
Prices in Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai and Khanh Hoa were all adjusted down to 60,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Binh Dinh, the price of live pigs remains stable at 60,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.
In particular, Lam Dong in the Central Highlands region has slightly decreased to 63,000 VND/kg, while Gia Lai continues to maintain the bottom level of 59,000 VND/kg - the lowest in the country.
Dak Lak currently maintains the price at 60,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.
The reason for the deep price decline in this area is said to be due to large supply while consumption remains weak, especially in big cities, and the export market has not shown signs of recovery.
Pig price in the South
Pig prices in the South generally did not fluctuate much during the day, but there were still some localities that recorded slight decreases.
Specifically, Ca Mau and Vinh Long both decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, down to 64,000 VND/kg and 62,000 VND/kg, respectively.
In provinces with large livestock production such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, An Giang and Can Tho, the price of live pigs still fluctuates between 63,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
Tay Ninh is currently the locality with the highest price in the region, reaching 65,000 VND/kg - a difference of 6,000 VND/kg compared to the provinces with the lowest prices, Gia Lai and Quang Tri.
According to traders, after the recent increase, pork prices in the South are showing signs of stabilizing. Pressure from domestic supply combined with weak demand due to the rainy season are the main factors holding back the increase.
On July 26, the downward trend continued to spread, especially evident in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Currently, Gia Lai and Quang Tri are the two localities with the lowest prices in the country at 59,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, Tay Ninh still holds the top position with a price of 65,000 VND/kg, showing a clear difference between regions.
According to experts, the short-term live hog market will continue to be affected by supply and demand factors, especially when animal feed costs have not decreased much and informal exports to China have not resumed stably.
