According to CBS News, a man in Massachusetts (USA) won a total of 2 million dollars playing the Powerball lottery thanks to a lucky mistake.
Paul Corcoran, a Fitchburg resident, bought two separate Powerball tickets with the same numbers for the July 9 drawing, each winning $1 million before taxes. Paul bought the first ticket at the Fitchburg Market Basket, and the second ticket at Country Farms on North Main Street in Leominster.

The Massachusetts State Lottery explained that Mr. Corcoran bought a second Powerball ticket without knowing that the ticket he bought earlier had won in the July 9 drawing.
"Corcoran shared that he initially purchased a Powerball ticket for seven drawings and mistakenly believed that the last drawing on that ticket had occurred. As a result, he purchased another ticket that also had multiple winning drawings, including the drawing on July 9," the Massachusetts state lottery said.
The winning numbers in the July 9 drawing were 5-9-25-28-69 with a Powerball of 5. Both of Corcoran's tickets matched all the winning numbers except the Powerball.
When receiving the award on July 18, Corcoran shared that he was very happy but had not yet decided how to use the money.
