On the evening of June 15, the program Ngan Mai Chuong Vang on HTV9 will present a special version of Cai Luong "Doi Nhu Y" - a script that has been staged by many stages, now brought closer to the television audience. This is a new creation of director - author Bui Quoc Bao and composer Hoang Song Viet, when trying to demonstrate the vitality of Cai Luong art with the spirit of innovation coming from the young artists themselves.
That is the source of actors from the "Golden Bell of Traditional Opera" contest that has existed for the past 19 years. "The actors are the ones who are gradually "extending the breath" of Cai Luong on stage and small screen. They deserve to be challenged with many good roles" - playwright Hoang Song Viet said.
This time, the play "Life as You Wish" is staged without telling stories through fierce conflicts or dramatizing familiar fates, but instead chooses to delve into small stories - ordinary but haunting: a poor working father with a heavy sense of inferiority, a young girl searching for freedom in her personal life, a brother who trades his dreams for his family, a child who is both innocent and sensitive...
Those pieces of life are connected together in a tight structure of reformed opera, vọng cổ songs and music that is renewed and rich in poetry, evoking thoughts about life values, choices and belief in a "life as desired" - simple but full of humanity.

"The story was rewritten using the Cai Luong technique, but was not constrained by the classical acting style. On the contrary, through the days of practice, director Bui Quoc Bao's staging style was very modern with innovative thinking, helping us actors to exploit our inner selves more deeply, and the concise staging rhythm... brought a new experience: profound but not lengthy, lyrical but still close to the psychology of today's audience" - artist Nguyen Van Meo shared.

The special feature that makes the play "Doi Nhu Y" promise to be attractive is the participation of young artists who have won the "Chuong Vang Vong Co" award and have gradually grown up from the roof of HTV's "Ngan Mai Chuong Vang" such as: Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam in the role of Hai Doi, will bring a multi-dimensional character image - somewhat cold, with many inner conflicts, but hidden tolerance and the desire to live for others.
That is Nguyen Van Meo in the role of Tam - a responsible older brother, full of feelings but not tragic, fully expressed through a warm voice and restrained acting style.
Phuong Cam Ngoc plays the role of Ba - a character with few lines but is the emotional center of many scenes, making an impression thanks to her sweet voice and genuine performance.
Thanh Tam as Suong – a girl with many moods, both gentle and strong; Hoang Dung as Khuong – a quiet man, always present in the important knots of the story….
Artist Phuong Cam Ngoc
They are a vibrant force of actors on the current cai luong stage with a creative spirit, respecting tradition but constantly seeking new things for their artistic journey.
The broadcast of "Doi Nhu Y" on HTV is an opportunity for the audience to approach a cai luong play that sets a thought-provoking direction for traditional art: not preserving it by "freezing it", but by renewing it in a sincere and kind way.
"If the art of Cai Luong is placed in the right place, with the right people, and in the right way, it can still move the audience and become a bridge between generations. And clearly, when directors and actors dare to tell familiar stories in the new Cai Luong language, there is no reason for us to be pessimistic about the future of this art form.
I have high expectations for the young generation of actors, including Vo Minh Lam, who has won the Mai Vang Award 8 times organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper, and is working with other young people to continue the journey of keeping the traditional stage alive. And when the golden bell rings again on television, it is not only the sound of art, but also the voice of those in the profession who are eager to connect with the audience" - playwright Hoang Song Viet said.
