Schools, with their high student density and frequent group activities, can easily become an “ideal” environment for disease outbreaks. There are many cases where students have to take long days off from school, or even be hospitalized, due to infectious diseases right at the beginning of the school year. In addition, one of the constant concerns of parents is traffic safety. Many tragic accidents involving students have occurred on the way to or from school, leaving heartbreaking consequences for families and society.
In addition to epidemics and traffic accidents, school violence is also a "problem" that haunts students, parents and schools. Although there have been many preventive measures, in recent times, there have been many cases of students fighting, filming and posting clips on social networks, negatively affecting students' psychology and personality. Violence does not only come from friends but can also come from academic pressure, family indifference, or negative impacts of the online environment.
Ensuring the health and safety of students is not just the responsibility of one party but requires the joint efforts of family, school and society.
In addition to teaching literacy, schools need to pay special attention to school health work: maintaining classroom and toilet hygiene; increasing supervision of boarding meals; promoting and educating students on the habit of washing hands with soap, maintaining personal and environmental hygiene. At the same time, building a friendly and healthy school environment, preventing violence and mental abuse in all forms.
As a family, parents need to proactively monitor their children’s health, not send them to class when they show signs of infectious diseases, and at the same time, closely coordinate with teachers in managing and educating their children. Equipping children with knowledge and skills to prevent traffic accidents and skills to respond when being bullied by friends is also extremely necessary.
On the social side, the government and relevant agencies need to strengthen food safety inspections in schools; ensure traffic infrastructure, organize traffic flow in school areas during rush hours; strengthen communication, promptly warn about epidemics, and strictly handle acts that endanger students.
Ensuring that students study in a safe, healthy and friendly environment also contributes to building a solid foundation for the country's future.
