Production efficiency

According to the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh district, since the beginning of the year, agricultural production in the area has been relatively stable. The yield and profit from rice are quite good; vegetables grow well, with few pests and diseases, giving high yields; the disease situation in livestock and poultry is well controlled; aquaculture is developing quite well... Typically, in the summer-autumn rice crop of 2025, the whole district planted 24,691.6 hectares, reaching 100.37% of the plan. The main rice varieties produced are OM 5451, OM 18... Up to now, people have harvested 11,988.6 hectares; the average yield of fresh rice is 6.13 tons/ha; The selling price of some varieties of OM 5451 is from 5,400-6,100 VND/kg, OM 18 is from 5,600-6,600 VND/kg... Rice prices are lower than the same period in 2024, but farmers still make a profit. Currently, the 2025 summer-autumn rice area in the fields is mainly concentrated in the ripening and harvesting stages; pests are insignificant, a few rice fields mainly have the disease of white rice, which is being focused on prevention and treatment...

Summer-autumn rice harvest in Vinh Thanh district.

Vinh Thanh District Department of Agriculture recommends: for the summer-autumn rice period from green to ripe, farmers are advised to apply comprehensive technical solutions to take care of the rice, promptly draining water in the fields when there is heavy rain. Depending on the soil, farmers are advised to drain all water in the fields 10 days before harvest so that the rice ripens evenly, the soil is hard to help harvest and transport rice easily, minimize the level of lodging during the ripening stage, protect productivity, limit post-harvest loss and ensure the quality of rice grains.

Mr. Tran Xuan Phuong, Vice Chairman of Vinh Thanh District People's Committee, commented: "In the first months of 2025, farmers in Vinh Thanh district produced a variety of rice, vegetables, and fruit trees; at the same time, they proactively converted crops with high economic profits on inefficient rice land. Agricultural production was stable, the locality directed well the care, protection and harvesting of winter-spring rice 2024-2025, summer-autumn rice 2025 and safe planting of autumn-winter rice. The supply of agricultural goods was sufficient and met the production and consumption requirements of farmers, businesses, etc., contributing to improving the efficiency of rice production in the year".

In order to achieve high efficiency in agricultural production, from the beginning of 2025 until now, Vinh Thanh district has focused on implementing many irrigation works. In particular, the locality has completed dry season irrigation with the volume of dredging and reinforcing a number of canals and irrigation ditches with a volume of 28,560m3, reaching 100.92% of the volume, the cost contributed by the people. The state budget capital investment projects have also had the results of appraisal and approval of the technical economic report, approval of the results of contractor selection for the project of building the F1G1 electric pumping station adjacent to canal 1000, Thanh An commune, serving local agricultural production...

Focus on the fall-winter crop

In the 2025 autumn-winter rice crop, Vinh Thanh district plans to produce about 22,500 hectares, with sowing time at the end of June and early July 2025. Up to now, the 2025 autumn-winter rice area has been sown on 9,098 hectares; the main variety is OM 5451. Currently, the rice is in the seedling - tillering stage and growing well. According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Thanh district, communes and towns in the district closely monitor the local brown planthopper and the migratory planthopper situation in combination with the hydrological regime, especially the storm and rain situation to build a specific and practical sowing schedule. The Department of Agriculture of Vinh Thanh district also focuses on building a rice variety structure for the autumn-winter crop to ensure the requirements of balance, disease safety and sustainable use of varieties, suitable for production and market reality; Focus on producing fragrant rice varieties, OM 5451, OM 34, OM 18 and OM 35... Farmers are advised to use certified varieties or higher; choose varieties suitable for production areas of 2 or 3 crops/year, ensuring a separation period between rice crops of at least 3 weeks; at the same time, in each field, choose to plant varieties with similar growth characteristics.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Thanh district, to successfully produce the 2025 autumn-winter rice crop, immediately after harvesting the summer-autumn rice, the Department of Agriculture mobilizes farmers to clean the fields, plow, turn the soil, bring water into the fields to submerge straw, wash away organic toxins in the soil, and destroy pathogens in the fields before sowing. Farmers organize weeding, clear embankments to limit the habitat of rats, golden apple snails, and harmful insects; use aquatic products and ducks to both contribute to cleaning the fields and improve production efficiency in an environmentally friendly direction. Organize the transfer and guide the application of scientific and technical advances in production, especially applying the methods of sowing in rows, sparse sowing, cluster sowing, and mechanical transplanting... Regarding rice care, the Department of Agriculture guides farmers to apply phosphate fertilizer, lime fertilizer, and organic fertilizer to stimulate the strong development of rice roots, limiting organic poisoning. Apply balanced fertilization, especially do not apply excess nitrogen fertilizer, apply effective phosphate fertilizer during the tillering stage, apply potassium fertilizer to limit lodging; pay attention to supplementing medium and micronutrient fertilizers and applying advanced technical advances to rice production in a safe and environmentally friendly direction such as "3 reductions, 3 increases", "1 must, 5 reductions", SRP, GAP, ecological technology, use of biological products (green fungus, Ometar) in pest management... In particular, communes and towns need to advise farmers on newly sown rice fields to closely monitor planthoppers migrating in the fields and apply phosphate fertilizer from the beginning of the season to limit organic poisoning. In rainy weather conditions, high humidity and temperature are favorable for pests such as fungal pathogens to develop, especially onion mosquitoes that can also grow and cause damage to autumn-winter rice. Farmers are advised to visit the fields regularly to take early intervention measures.

Mr. Tran Xuan Phuong emphasized: the local agricultural sector needs to advise farmers for newly sown autumn-winter rice crops to closely monitor planthoppers migrating in the fields and apply phosphate fertilizer right from the beginning of the crop to limit organic poisoning. In addition, for rice crops that are about to be harvested in the summer-autumn crop of 2025, farmers need to proactively contact harvesters and traders to keep up with the harvest schedule, limiting losses caused by weather...
