On the morning of September 6, Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane - the pagoda of the Vietnamese community in Laos, solemnly held the Vu Lan Festival. The event not only helps preserve Vietnamese cultural identity, but also enriches the spiritual life of the two countries' communities, strengthening the bond and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and Laos.
According to a VNA reporter in Laos, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the Central Committee of the Lao Buddhist Union; Ms. Naly Sisoulith, wife of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, along with many representatives of businesses and the Vietnamese community living and studying in Laos.
Speaking at the ceremony, Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Abbot of Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane, emphasized that Vu Lan is an occasion for Vietnamese people in Laos to commemorate and show gratitude to their parents with deep gratitude.
This is not only the beauty of Buddhism but also the eternal morality of the Vietnamese people, contributing to spiritual connection, preserving cultural identity, and at the same time uniting the community in love and affection.
Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang affirmed that Vu Lan Festival is also an opportunity for Vietnamese people in Laos in particular and overseas Vietnamese in the world in general to educate the younger generation about the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking water" and the spirit of mutual love, making the fine traditions of the nation shine.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam said that this year's Vu Lan Festival took place in the atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. This is not only an occasion to show gratitude to parents, but also a reminder of patriotism, solidarity and the aspiration to build a rich, strong and civilized country.
Within the framework of the Grand Ceremony, traditional Buddhist rituals of Laos and Vietnam were solemnly performed. The Organizing Committee and benefactors presented 300 gifts including food and necessities to the blind, the disabled, Lao people and the Vietnamese community in Laos in difficult circumstances, contributing to spreading the spirit of sharing, love and solidarity.
The Vu Lan Festival at Phat Tich Pagoda not only contributes to preserving the spiritual and cultural traditions of Vietnamese people in Laos, but is also an opportunity for Buddhists and the Vietnamese community in Laos to express their filial piety to their parents, while strengthening solidarity and attachment between the people of Vietnam and Laos./.
