Nghe An Police promptly rescued Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, 50 years old, a well digger who fainted at a depth of 13 meters due to lack of oxygen.

At around 7:30 a.m. on June 26, Mr. Hung, a resident of Thanh Xuan Commune, went to dredge a well for hire at a resident of Thanh Giang Commune, Thanh Chuong District. He climbed down with a rope to the bottom of the well to check, but after a few minutes, he could not contact the authorities. The homeowner used a flashlight to see that he had fainted, so he called his neighbors and the authorities for help.

Thanh Giang Commune police and dozens of local residents used industrial blowers and pumps to pump oxygen down the well. Mr. Hung later regained consciousness and was pulled up by the rescue team at 8:15.

"Mr. Hung fainted due to suffocation and lack of oxygen. Fortunately, the victim had good resistance and regained consciousness in time after receiving oxygen, making it easier for the police to deploy a rescue plan," said the leader of Thanh Giang Commune Police.

Nghe An has recently suffered from severe drought, causing wells to dry up. Many households in the district have had to hire workers to dig wells, dredge, and dredge their wells to get water for daily use.

Experts warn that methane gas (CH4) accumulating at the bottom of wells is the main cause of suffocation or explosion. To prevent this, people need to remove methane gas with a pump or use a fan to circulate the air, then wear a gas mask before going down the well.
