At around 1:30 p.m. on July 24, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Khanh Hoa Provincial Police received a report that two tourists were visiting and picnicking at Co Ong Mountain, Dam Mon Village, Dai Lanh Commune, and were exhausted and unable to get down the mountain by themselves. Immediately, the Department directed the Fire Prevention and Rescue Team of Area 3 to dispatch 1 fire truck and 6 officers and soldiers to urgently go to the scene to carry out rescue work.

With the support of local fishermen, the rescue team moved to the Co Ong mountain area. At nearly 5:00 p.m. the same day, two tourists were found; one of them was a female tourist who was exhausted, had a stomachache, and could not move on her own; the other male tourist was in stable health. The rescue team quickly brought the tourists down the mountain and moved them to a safe place. The two tourists were identified as Ms. Lisa (born in 2006, Dutch nationality) and Mr. Khuong Van Nguyen (born in 2000, residing in Thanh Hoa province).
The leader of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department said that in addition to the functional forces, the successful rescue of the two tourists also had the active support of Dai Lanh Commune Police, Dam Mon Border Guard Station and local people.
