Announcement and granting of the right to use the certification mark "Gia Vien Ninh Binh Melon"

On the afternoon of June 5, at the Tien Thang commune cultural house, Gia Vien District People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology, the European and American Research and Technology Transfer Center to organize a conference to announce and grant the right to use the certification mark "Gia Vien Ninh Binh Melon".

Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Science and Technology, Gia Vien District People's Committee, European-American Research and Technology Transfer Center, representatives of People's Committees of communes, towns, cooperatives, households producing and trading melon products in the district.

Melon plants are suitable for the local soil and climate conditions, giving high yield and economic value, contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives. The whole district grows nearly 70 hectares of melons of all kinds, mainly concentrated in Tien Thang and Gia Phuong communes.

However, because the crop structure has only been changed in recent years, Gia Vien melons are not yet known to many people, a protection system has not been established, there is no separate brand or trademark, introduction, promotion, and access are difficult, reducing the competitiveness of the product in the market.

On April 18, 2025, the Department of Intellectual Property issued Decision No. 52792/QD-SHTT.IP on granting the Certificate of registration of the trademark "Gia Vien Melon - Ninh Binh ".

Representative of the Department of Science and Technology presented the decision to recognize the registration of the trademark "Gia Vien-Ninh Binh Melon" to the leader of Gia Vien District People's Committee - the owner of the trademark.

At the conference, representatives of the Department of Science and Technology announced the decision and awarded the certificate of registration of the trademark "Gia Vien-Ninh Binh Melon" to the leaders of Gia Vien District People's Committee - the owner of the trademark; and at the same time awarded the certificate of the right to use the certification trademark to 3 cooperatives growing, producing and trading Gia Vien melon products.

Through the certification of the "Gia Vien - Ninh Binh Melon" trademark, it will help to better manage the planning of growing areas, regulate and control from the beginning the quality of products and services of production households and cooperatives when growing and trading products from Gia Vien melon. From there, it will contribute to building the reputation and prestige of the product to develop faster, stronger and more sustainably, becoming a new production and business industry. In addition, it is possible to combine eco-tourism and green tourism with the development of melons in Gia Vien district.
