We talk about us: Departure - 4 years with listeners (Part 2)

“This is Long An Radio Station” - a familiar sound that resounds every morning on the radio has become familiar to Long An people since 1978, until “This is Long An Newspaper and Radio - Television Station” - the MC's chant on the background music of the song Vam Co Dong, at 5am and “I wish you a good night's sleep” at 9pm every night has become an indispensable “spiritual food” for a part of the audience. A broadcast schedule that has been carefully researched and consulted by radio listeners with interwoven programs creates harmony and rationality, especially live radio programs: Through the cultural region (QMVH), Departure, Tri am dong dong, Giai melodies of time,... have contributed to creating the brand of FM 96.9Mhz. Within the framework of this article, we would like to share about our typical "brainchildren" during the years of accompanying radio waves in particular and Long An press in general.

Lesson 2: Departure - 4 years with the listener's journey

Departure - a program that has only been around for 4 years but has made an impression not only in Long An province but also in the national radio field. The program is like a breath of fresh air in terms of effective traffic law propaganda. I thought the program was dry, but when it was implemented, it created surprises with its gentle, easy-to-understand, easy-to-remember propaganda, as Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Quang Hao commented on the program at the 15th National Radio Festival in 2022.

Departure was launched on April 19, 2021 by Long An Radio and Television Station (now Long An Radio and Television Newspaper) in coordination with the Provincial Police, and has been accompanying listeners for more than 4 years. With a duration of 30 minutes/program, broadcast live on FM 96.9Mhz and livestreamed on YouTube and Fanpage Long An TV from 7am to 7:30am, the program has become a "companion" of drivers in particular and listeners in general every Monday morning.

The program aims to promote and improve the quality and effectiveness of information and propaganda to raise awareness of compliance with laws on traffic order and safety ; gradually build a traffic culture; create consensus and self-awareness of people in implementing legal regulations on traffic order and safety to reduce traffic congestion and traffic accidents in the province.

As of mid-June 2025, the program has broadcast 217 episodes with various contents, creating a strong change for people in voluntarily complying, being aware of propaganda, andeducating deeply and widely in the community about the provisions of the law to ensure traffic safety and traffic culture.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Nghia - one of the first members to build the program's format, said: "The content included in the program is always topical and useful, including general knowledge of traffic laws. Over the past 4 years, the program has equipped traffic participants with knowledge within the general rules of traffic laws to follow and learn through appropriate, easy-to-understand content, explaining and promptly reflecting issues that traffic participants have questions about. When people understand, they will comply well, thereby forming a traffic culture in the future."

The first issues of the Departure program were released during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The topics covered in the program are very diverse, focusing on propaganda, education, and widespread dissemination of road and inland waterway traffic laws; the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State on ensuring traffic safety, including criteria such as updating the province's traffic situation, current traffic culture in the province, traffic issues of interest to many people, etc.

To make it easy for people to remember and receive information, the program has a very diverse and lively structure of 3 parts such as: Traffic news, Traffic stories and Understanding traffic laws. Editor Kim Anh - the creator of the program format, shared: "In the program, we especially have a traffic story reflecting common traffic situations in everyday life. Through those traffic situations, the speakers are the traffic police force who will answer to make the program more attractive and easier to get into the hearts of listeners. This is what makes listeners feel more interested in listening to the program."

Although it was only 30 minutes long, the Departure program provided listeners with a lot of useful information, especially showing the solutions that the provincial Traffic Police force had come up with to solve problems when drivers had questions.

Departure Program won Bronze Medal at the 15th National Radio Festival 2022

With an easy-to-understand, non-rigid and realistic form of propaganda, through questions from the program and from the audience and listeners via phone numbers and on the Long An TV Fanpage, the guest team are people who are performing tasks with practical experience,... so the program has no distance from listeners. Especially during the Covid-19 epidemic, many Facebook accounts interacted, asked questions about the journey home, and the program updated and informed promptly.

At the end of each program, the traffic police force sends a message to the listeners such as "Through this program, the traffic police force and the production team wish to help listeners understand more accurately the regulations of traffic laws and sanctions for violations so that all traffic participants can raise their awareness of better compliance in the future, contributing to the state management agency on traffic to better monitor traffic safety, contributing to reducing traffic accidents, and better protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens".

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Quang Hao - the instructor who guided the radio team to create the Khoi Hanh program, commented: "The program is really effective in promoting traffic laws and in 4 years has more or less contributed to changing the behavior of traffic participants. A local station that maintains a program like that is really good and very effective in propaganda work."

With these advantages, in the 15th National Radio Festival in 2022, the Departure program won the Bronze Medal in the live radio program category. This is an honor and motivation for the crew to make the program better and better.

Account Thanh Nguyen Le commented: "The program has conveyed a lot of useful information for life, I hope the program will be maintained for a long time and can increase the frequency of broadcasting...".

With the reception and encouragement of likes, shares on digital platforms and listening on the radio, Khoi Hanh has been truly effective and positively impacted the change in behavior of traffic participants for the better, thereby forming a traffic culture. Hopefully in the future, audiences and listeners will continue to consider Khoi Hanh as spiritual food, an effective information channel to propagate traffic safety for everyone every Monday morning.

Along with the programs Through the Cultural Region and Departure, on the radio waves of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, there are also 2 very attractive and appealing live radio programs, receiving thousands of likes and many comments from audiences and listeners everywhere, which are the Live Music on Demand program launched in February 2011 (the predecessor of the current Giai Melodies of Time program) and Tri Am Dong Dong program launched in January 2017. These are programs that meet the increasingly diverse needs of enjoying art of audiences and listeners everywhere.

With all the enthusiasm of the team of radio broadcasters who are always innovative and dynamic, we hope that there will be more and more love from listeners to have more motivation to continue to have good and quality radio products in both content and form, promoting our advantages, constantly changing to suit the increasing needs of listeners in the current digital age./.
