At the end of the session on August 13, the VN-Index closed at 1,611 points, up 3 points, equivalent to 0.21%.
Opening the session on August 13, VN-Index increased sharply by 7 points thanks to demand focusing on large-cap stocks such as MBB, LPB (banking sector) and GVR. However, divergence quickly appeared when codes such as VPB, BID, VCB adjusted down after a series of strong increases before.
By mid-morning, selling pressure increased in the Vingroup group (VIC, VHM...) and other large stocks such as HPG,FPT, causing the general index to fall sharply, reaching 1,591.5 points, losing more than 17 points compared to the reference point.
In the afternoon session, the market continued to be under pressure from large selling volume in key sectors such as Vingroup, banking and securities. However, the differentiation in the banking group was still clear: VCB, VPB, BID decreased, whileSHB , MBB, CTG remained green.
In the second half of the session, Vingroup recovered near the reference level, helping VN-Index reverse and increase slightly. Notably, foreign investors maintained a strong net selling position with a value of VND 1,479 billion, focusing on codes such as SSI, MWG and FPT.
At the end of the session, VN-Index closed at 1,611 points, up 3 points, equivalent to 0.21%.
According to Vietcombank Securities Company (VCBS), VN-Index is forecast to continue to fluctuate with an amplitude of about ±15 points, similar to the session on August 13.
Divergence among industry groups may increase, especially when profit-taking pressure still exists in stocks that have increased rapidly such as banks, Vingroup or FPT.
However, cash flow is still looking for opportunities in sectors such as real estate and public investment, which attracted investors' attention in the previous session. Some individual stocks with their own stories, especially those with low price bases, can continue to maintain the uptrend.
VCBS and some other securities companies recommend investors to reduce their financial leverage to preserve purchasing power, waiting for disbursement opportunities when the price level is more stable; at the same time, observe stocks with their own stories in the real estate, public investment sectors or stocks with good accumulated price bases. Because the stock market on August 14 promises unpredictable fluctuations, requiring investors to be cautious and flexible in trading decisions.
