Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; representatives of leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, and organizations, and many candidates with disabilities attended the program.
The 3rd Singing Contest for the Disabled, organized by the Vietnam Association for the Protection of the Disabled and Orphans, was successfully held in the 3 regions of North, Central and South last May with the participation of 29 groups, 358 contestants and 86 entries. The Organizing Committee selected 9 groups winning First, Second and Third prizes along with 4 entries winning Gold prizes to participate in the final round.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans Nguyen Trong Dam said that in recent years, in addition to supporting activities to improve the material life of people with disabilities, the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans has organized many cultural, artistic, sports , entertainment and recreational activities. One of the activities with practical significance, widespread influence and attracting enthusiastic response and participation from a large number of people with disabilities is the National Singing Contest for People with Disabilities, held every 5 years.
This year's competition is a continuation of the success of the previous two competitions (held in 2014 and 2019), partly meeting the spiritual needs of people with disabilities, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents; at the same time affirming that people with disabilities can do everything with the help and support of the community.
Towards the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), continuing to implement the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Law on Persons with Disabilities, this year, despite facing many difficulties in the organization process, especially financial (nearly 50% from social mobilization sources), the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities and Orphans is still determined to initiate and organize a useful art playground for the disabled community nationwide.

With the theme “Singing from the heart”, the final round of the 3rd National Singing Contest for the Disabled had the participation of 136 contestants from 13 provinces and cities; of which 114 contestants had extremely severe disabilities, 22 contestants had severe disabilities. The contestants brought to the contest special performances, attractive in content and rich in performance forms: solo, ensemble, solo, duet, group singing, dancing, singing, etc.
The audience had the opportunity to enjoy art performances that were carefully and elaborately staged; performances imbued with the identity of the homeland, country, and region, professionally performed by people with disabilities. These were songs praising the beauty of the homeland and country such as: The Fatherland of Four Seasons of Flowers, The Fatherland Calls My Name, Oh Vietnam, Bright Moon of Two Regions, Thousand Years of Brocade Mountains and Rivers... or praising the sacred motherly love such as: The Shadow of the Kơ Nia Tree, Finding Mother, Meeting Mother in a Dream...
The contest is also an opportunity for contestants to demonstrate their musical talents through the flexible and skillful use of many different musical instruments, from traditional to modern, from the đàn tính, đàn bát to the organ and piano. Each performance contains a strong message about love of life, faith, will, aspiration to rise up, live positively and live a useful life for society.
On this occasion, the sponsor representative also donated 40 computers to people with disabilities in the provinces of Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh and Thai Nguyen.
Not only is it a mass art competition, but it has truly become a useful and interesting playground, a cultural and artistic exchange festival for people with disabilities, thereby conveying the message that people with disabilities can overcome barriers, do many things, even very well if society cares and creates favorable conditions.
