This special Toyota Camry Sprint Edition sedan model is developed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a joint venture between Toyota and Kirloskar Group, specializing in manufacturing and distributing Toyota cars in India. The most noticeable difference of this version is the matte black paint covering the hood, roof, A-pillar and rear trunk, creating a unique two-tone style. Users can choose from five exterior paint colors including Emotional Red, Platinum White Pearl, Cement Grey, Precious Metal and Dark Blue Metallic.
The car is also equipped with a new set of black painted alloy wheels and a sporty bodykit with sharper front and rear bumpers and a small spoiler at the rear. Although there are no operational upgrades, the new model makes a strong impression thanks to its sporty appearance and a series of high-end amenities... The car has a modern interior with a 12.3-inch dual digital instrument cluster, a head-up display (HUD), a 10-way power driver's seat with integrated electric lumbar support, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and especially the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety package with a series of advanced driver assistance features. These are amenities usually only found on luxury cars.
In terms of operation, the Camry Sprint Edition has no changes compared to the standard version. The car uses a 2.5L hybrid powertrain, combining a gasoline engine and an electric motor for a total capacity of 227 horsepower and a maximum torque of 221 Nm. The drive configuration is still front-wheel drive, without the AWD option like some other markets. In India, the Camry Sprint Edition is priced at INR 48.50 lakh, which is approximately $55,500. Notably, this is the same price as the Camry Hybrid Elegant, which is currently the only remaining option on Toyota’s online configurator. Both versions are assembled at the Bidadi plant and are distributed exclusively for the domestic market.
Although no longer the sales phenomenon it once was, the Camry is still a popular D-segment sedan globally. In 2024, the model recorded impressive sales of 593,000 units. The launch of the Camry Sprint Edition in India shows Toyota's efforts to refresh its image and maintain its appeal in the increasingly narrowing sedan segment.
