After only 1 day of launching, there were more than 31,800 donations of 7 billion VND for the Cuban people.

According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, just over a day after launching the program to support the Cuban people with the theme “65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship”, more than 31,800 donations from people nationwide were sent to the program’s donation account. The amount of donations as of 6:30 a.m. on August 14 had reached more than 7 billion VND.

Every contribution, no matter how small, is a noble gesture, demonstrating the deep affection of the Vietnamese people for Cuba - a loyal friend during the most difficult years.

Previously, on August 13, to practically carry out activities in the "Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025" on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (1960-2025), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society was assigned by the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front to preside over the national launch of a program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship".

Coordinating organizations include: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency , Nhan Dan Newspaper.

The program will take place over 65 days (August 13 - October 16, 2025) to mobilize resources (at least 65 billion VND) to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and foster the special friendship between the two peoples.

The program was launched to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people in terms of medical supplies, necessities and sustainable development cooperation areas, contributing to helping the Cuban people overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic, natural disasters and blockade and embargo policies.

The program is a meaningful humanitarian activity, demonstrating the loyalty, attachment and international solidarity of the Vietnamese people for the Cuban people. This is also an opportunity to express gratitude for the noble acts that Cuba has given to Vietnam during difficult years.

Reviewing the 65-year brotherly solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba, Vice President, General Secretary, and Executive Director of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Hai Anh recalled the historical milestone of December 2, 1960, when Cuba became the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

Notably, in September 1973, Cuban leader Fidel Castro was the first and only head of state in the world to cross the 17th parallel to visit the liberated zone of South Vietnam. In the “land of fire” Quang Tri, leader Fidel Castro once again affirmed the immortal statement “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood!”.

Despite many difficulties and shortages, the Cuban people have sent huge and valuable material resources to the Vietnamese people in a timely manner to help them fight against the enemy and build the country. Cuban technical staff teams were present on the Ho Chi Minh trail in Truong Son; mine and torpedo clearance teams were present at Hai Phong port. Or the Thang Loi hotel; the Xuan Mai-Son Tay route; the Dong Hoi general hospital; the Luong My chicken farm; the Ba Vi cow farm, the Vietnam-Cuba hospital... are typical works that mark the solidarity and assistance to the Cuban-Vietnamese brothers.

“Over the past 65 years, the two countries have stood side by side in the struggle for national independence and freedom. The special Vietnam-Cuba relationship has always been preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders of the Party, State and people of the two countries.

In 2025, the two countries will organize the "Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year", celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In that series of meaningful activities, the Program to support the Cuban people is an activity assigned by the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front to the Vietnam Red Cross Society to preside over, coordinate with ministries, branches, socio-political organizations and mass organizations to organize; to support the Cuban people who are facing many difficulties due to the impact of natural disasters, epidemics and blockade and embargo policies...

Accordingly, during the 65 days of the Program, organizations, individuals, people and organizations can participate by supporting funds in many forms: Donating among cadres, members, union members, workers at agencies, organizations, schools and communities; scanning the QR code of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for transfer, donation boxes in public places, mobile applications (Charity App, Viettel Money); the website of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; organizing creative emulation movements in schools such as: Writing letters, donating "small plans" to support Cuban children...

The collected money will be received, transparently managed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and transferred to the Cuban people in 2025./.
