From legendary artists such as Van Cao, Nguyen Tuan, Xuan Dieu, Trinh Cong Son, Nguyen Gia Tri, Bui Xuan Phai... to close friends of the same era such as musicians Tran Tien, Nguyen Duy, Nguyen Cuong..., all appear through a close, profound perspective, full of humanity and imbued with personal emotions of Nguyen The Hung.
The book is a collection of stories about the author’s feelings and deep reflections on each character. It is a combination of the objective perspective of the memoirist and the personal feelings of a friend, a companion. This helps the portraits become vivid, close and touching.
Vietnamese geniuses are vividly portrayed in The Hung's book.

In his preface, author The Hung compared the book to a "form of epitaph" - expressing the desire to preserve the memories and values of talented people for posterity.
“I poured my heart and soul into this stele for more than 400 days and nights to engrave 56 portraits of talented people of the country in many fields. They are the assets of the nation. So that future generations can understand the talent, life, fate, pain, and hidden corners of these talented people," the author shared.
The book is divided into two main parts: Part 1 is the author's personal memories from childhood to adulthood and career. Part 2 is stories, memories, and reflections on special characters, the "wonders" of modern Vietnamese culture, art, and knowledge.
The emotional highlight of The Hung Memories is also the poems and valuable documentary images cleverly integrated into each page. With more than 800 documentary photos and poems written by the author himself, the book not only records time, space and people but also stirs emotions, evoking pride in a golden generation that contributed to creating the face of Vietnamese culture and art in the 20th century.
