Warning of flood risk level 2 to level 3 on rivers in the North and Central regions

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 10:00 p.m. on August 26 to 9:00 a.m. on August 27, floods on Thao River and downstream of Ma River continued to rise rapidly above alert level 3.

In the next 12 - 24 hours, floods on Thao River and downstream Ma River will drop to alert level 2 - alert level 3.

Warning from now until August 27, floods on small rivers, floods on Hoang Long River continue to rise to alert level 3; upstream Ca River continues to fall to alert level 1 - alert level 2; floods on Luc Nam River rise above alert level 2; floods downstream Ca River rise above alert level 1.

There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes in the provinces of Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh , Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An (Real-time warning information on areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is provided online on the website of the Department of Hydrometeorology at: https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in a separate bulletin warning of flash floods and landslides). Level of natural disaster risk due to floods is level 2 - 3.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting notes: Forecast and warning information is calculated based on the expected discharge levels of upstream reservoirs. The hydro-meteorological agency will update the bulletins when there are changes in the discharge flow of the reservoirs.

Floods on rivers cause flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, affecting activities such as water transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio-economic activities.
