Preserve and restore historical and cultural relics

Implementing Project 6 on "Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities, associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program 1719 for the period 2021-2025, Son La province focuses on restoring and embellishing historical and cultural relics, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of relics, making them attractive destinations for tourists and local people.

The Vietnam - Laos revolutionary historical relic site, Lao Kho 1 village, Phieng Khoai commune, was restored and repaired.

From the capital of the National Target Program 1719, phase 2023-2024, Son La province is implementing the Project to restore, embellish and prevent degradation of Muong Va Tower relic, Sop Cop commune, with a total investment of more than 12 billion VND, renovating and expanding the parking lot; paving the yard with bricks and stones; building a landscape lake, 5 business kiosks and walking paths; renovating steps, management house; and auxiliary items, trees and miniature landscapes.

After 2 years of implementation, the project has been completed, meeting the requirements of construction quality, architectural aesthetics, ensuring the inheritance and promotion of historical values, contributing to creating highlights and conditions for the locality to preserve and promote relics, promote the development of ecotourism and community.

At the Vietnam - Laos Revolutionary Historical Relic Site, Lao Kho 1 village, Phieng Khoai commune, inaugurated in July 2017 and ranked as a special national relic, built on an area of ​​nearly 50 hectares, including the following works: Friendship flower platform; memorial house on the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos; auxiliary items including reception house, festival yard and traditional education ... After 8 years of exploitation, some items in the relic complex have also shown signs of deterioration; due to its low-lying location, the area leading to the main gate has signs of landslides, and is at risk of flooding when flood waters rise...

In early 2024, the relic site was renovated and embellished with a total investment of 9.6 billion VND from the National Target Program 1719, including the following items: Building a bridge over the stream, anti-erosion embankment, landscape improvement, tree planting, and lighting installation. To date, the main items have been completed.

Mr. Trang Lao Minh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lao Kho 1 Village, Phieng Khoai Commune, shared: The Vietnam - Laos revolutionary historical relic site is the pride of the local people. With the State's investment in restoration, embellishment and expansion of many items, the relic site is increasingly spacious, contributing to educating traditions and strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos. The village will continue to promote the cultural and historical values ​​of the relic site to ethnic minorities, while assigning organizations to take care of hygiene, preserve the landscape, and create a good impression for tourists.

Implementing Project 6, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with sectors and localities to survey and assess the current status of relics, develop plans for preservation, restoration, embellishment, and reconstruction, and propose investments in each phase. At the same time, urgently complete documents and legal procedures to soon implement restoration, meeting the needs of religious activities and sightseeing of the people. During the implementation process, the Department always closely follows the direction of the Central and the province, ensures security, environmental sanitation, preserves artifacts, and fully complies with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage, the Law on Construction, and related regulations. Restoration items are carried out in accordance with technical, aesthetic, architectural standards and are consistent with the traditional cultural identity of the nation.

Mr. Pham Hong Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with relevant agencies to effectively deploy the capital of the National Target Program 1719 for the period of 2021-2025, to renovate, embellish and prevent degradation of relics such as Muong Va Tower, Sop Cop commune; Que Lam Ngu Che Stele - Temple of King Le Thai Tong, To Hieu ward and Vietnam - Laos Revolutionary Historical Relic Site, Phieng Khoai commune. Up to now, the basic works have been completed, the disbursement rate has reached 100%.

From the capital of the National Target Program 1719, many historical, cultural relics and scenic spots in the province have been invested, restored, upgraded, serving the needs of beliefs and sightseeing. These relics have been effective, contributing to educating traditions, fostering national pride, love for the homeland and attracting a large number of tourists.
