Speaking to SGGP reporters, Dr. Le Van Danh, Director of the Con Co Military-Civilian Medical Center (Quang Tri) said that from 7:00 a.m. this morning, August 25, in the Con Co island area, high tides began to rise, accompanied by heavy rain and winds of level 5 and level 6.

Currently, storm No. 5 continues to intensify and cause many large waves. The entire military and civilian population of nearly 400 people on the island are taking shelter from the storm in the bunker.

Waves began to rise along with heavy rain on Con Co Island from early morning on August 25.

Con Co Special Zone has been proactively responding to storm No. 5, with the motto "4 on-site" and the principle of "Proactive prevention, timely response, urgent and effective recovery" to minimize human and property damage caused by storm No. 5.

The roads are deserted, with only occasional police vehicles on duty. Authorities have also banned people from crossing Cua Hoi Bridge.

* Ha Tinh: 28 communes experienced power outages due to storm No. 5

On the afternoon of August 25, Mr. Pham Viet Thang, Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Electricity Company, said that according to statistics up to now, the whole province recorded 28 communes without power, including communes with complete power outages, and some communes with partial power outages.

The cause of the widespread power outage was due to the impact of storm No. 5, which led to a power line failure. The unit is currently reviewing and checking. At 12:30 pm on August 25, at Xuan Thanh Beach Resort (Thanh Long village, Tien Dien commune, Ha Tinh province ), SGGP reporters recorded very heavy rain and strong winds even though the storm had not yet made landfall. Around the area, there were a series of restaurant billboards and trees that were knocked down by strong winds. Some houses near the resort and near the coast were braced and reinforced. People were evacuated to safe shelters.
