Tomorrow morning (September 26), Giao thong Newspaper will organize a discussion with the topic: "How to make the capital's buses and metro more attractive to passengers?".

Hanoi currently has a total of 153 bus routes in operation. Of these, 128 are subsidized, 9 are non-subsidized, 13 are adjacent, and 3 are City tour routes.
The bus network has now reached all 30 districts, towns and cities; 513/579 communes, wards and towns (88.6%); 65/75 hospitals (87%); 192/286 universities, colleges and high schools (67%).
The bus has also reached all 27 large industrial parks, 33/37 urban areas (89.2%); 23/24 craft villages (95.8%); 23/25 historical and cultural relic sites and tourist areas (92%) and connected with 8 neighboring provinces and cities (Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Nam Dinh ).
The city has 11 transport units participating in bus operations with more than 2,100 vehicles. Every day, they undertake to transport tens of thousands of passengers.
In recent years, Hanoi has made many efforts to expand its network, invest in vehicle innovation, and increase the application of science and technology in management and operation, helping people access public passenger transport services more easily.
From 2021 to 2024, Hanoi will have two more metro lines, Cat Linh – Ha Dong Metro, Nhon – Hanoi Railway Station connecting with buses to serve the travel needs of passengers. However, the passenger volume is still not as expected.
On the streets, most of the traffic is private vehicles, while the target of public passenger transport reaching 30-35% by 2025 is a big challenge.
Finding solutions to make the capital's buses and trains more attractive to people who abandon their personal vehicles and use public passenger transport is an issue raised at tomorrow's discussion (September 26).
At the seminar, representatives of state management agencies, experts and businesses will discuss and propose more specific directions and solutions for the coming stages.
