Reading a speech reviewing the 35-year journey of establishment and development of the People's Representative Newspaper, Party Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of the People's Representative Newspaper Pham Thi Thanh Huyen emphasized that the People's Representative Newspaper is extremely honored and proud to receive the First Class Labor Medal from the President on its 35th anniversary.

"The 35-year journey is not long for a newspaper, but the People's Representative Newspaper has gradually affirmed its role, position and glorious mission as the Voice of the National Assembly, the Forum of National Assembly Deputies, People's Councils and voters," Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen emphasized.

Over the past 35 years, since its establishment (October 5, 1988), People's Representative Magazine was introduced to readers, every 2-3 months; and in 2002, it was changed to People's Representative Newspaper, introduced to readers weekly.

In response to the new development requirements of the Party, State, and National Assembly in the cause of innovation and the outstanding efforts in implementing the newspaper's motto, on August 27, 2009, Chairman of the 12th National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong, now General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, signed Resolution No. 816/2009/UBTVQH12 to upgrade and rename the People's Representative Newspaper to the People's Representative Newspaper.

Speaking at the Ceremony to Announce Resolution No. 816 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the 12th National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: This is an important milestone, a memorable event. From now on, after the official launch of the organization and operation, the issue is not whether the newspaper is upgraded from type II to type I, but the most important thing is the authority and prestige of the newspaper.

Taking to heart that heartfelt advice, Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen stated that, inheriting the previous 21 years, over the past 14 years, generations of cadres, civil servants and employees of the People's Representative Newspaper have continuously innovated and created, turning challenges into development opportunities, promoting emulation movements, with the motto of action "Bright heart, high intelligence, sharp pen". In particular, the Editorial Board has been proactive, creative and steadfast in leading the newspaper to operate properly and vividly in its principles and purposes, which are truly: The voice of the National Assembly, a forum for National Assembly deputies, People's Councils and voters nationwide. The People's Representative Newspaper promptly conveys to voters nationwide the innovative activities of the Party, State, National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in accordance with the Press Law, the orientation of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the direction of the governing body of the National Assembly Office.

"And, the newspaper is increasingly affirming its position and prestige as a key press agency of the National Assembly, one of the 12 key political press agencies of the country with new developments, gradually leaving its mark as a luxurious, intellectual and close newspaper," Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen affirmed.
