Talkshow "Streamlining organizational structure - Empowering local authorities at 2 levels" conducted by Tin Tuc and Dan Toc newspaper in May 2025.
At the National Conference on implementing the Politburo 's resolutions on May 18, 2025, General Secretary To Lam pointed out the "Four Pillars" to help Vietnam "take off" including: Resolution 57 on promoting science, technology and innovation, Resolution 59 on proactively integrating deeply into the international community, Resolution 68 on developing the private economy and Resolution 66 on comprehensive innovation in law-making. This is the foundation of a new development mindset that is comprehensive, feasible, and close to reality, and is a solid theoretical basis for the country's development.
With a 100-year tradition of being with the nation, the press is facing urgent demands for innovation in content, form, approach and technology to be worthy of its role in guiding public opinion. The new era of the nation needs talented and courageous journalists who are constantly creative, explore reality, convey convincing and attractive information to the public; respect the truth, and persistently protect the interests of the country and the people. From there, we can promote the role and mission of the press to contribute to the country and the public.
Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat
Over 100 years of construction and development, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press has made strong progress in terms of quantity, quality, programs, and publication content, and has initially mastered modern media technology. Many press agencies have developed into multimedia press agencies on par with the region and the world, and the team of journalists is increasingly strong, politically steadfast, professionally skilled, exemplary in professional ethics, and performing well in social responsibilities.
The process of globalization, along with the development of digital technology and artificial intelligence, brings many opportunities, but also poses many challenges for revolutionary journalism. The press needs to promote research, exploitation and application of scientific and technological achievements, digital transformation of journalism associated with administrative reform, building professional press agencies, operating effectively, efficiently, effectively and integrating internationally.
Journalists are happy because they are always cared for by the Party and the State, and encouraged and recognized by the public. In the history of journalism, President Ho Chi Minh held the column "Speak and Listen" in Nhan Dan newspaper; General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh had the column "Things to Do Immediately"... showing the irreplaceable role of journalism in the renovation period... It will be difficult to have articles that touch the hearts of the public if journalists lack enthusiasm, passion, and dedication to their profession.
Dedication, enthusiasm and idealism in the profession, the spirit of serving the country and the people, and pride in the profession are always the foundation for journalists to firmly face all difficulties and challenges, and to do their best in all situations. In the new era, journalism must live in the breath of the nation, attached to every thought and concern of the people. The appeal of journalism is to express the thoughts and aspirations of the people.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission
Every journalist today is proud of the 100-year tradition of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press and is clearly aware of the profound instructions of General Secretary To Lam: "The new era sets new and higher requirements for the revolutionary press, requiring the press to develop accordingly, grow together with the nation, and be worthy of professional, humane, and modern journalism." This is a political command, a call for every journalist and press agency to comprehensively innovate their thinking, methods of operation, and organizational apparatus.
To do so, we must take advantage of the team of collaborators, expand forums for exchange, exploitation and provision of information. We must pay attention to vulnerable groups, protect the fairness and legitimate interests of public subjects who have little opportunity to speak up. Information from remote areas and ethnic minorities must be given more priority. Public participation in journalism is the way to make journalism more lively, closer to the public and more up-to-date.
The press in the new era must have a new vision. Closely following the Party's leadership, having a long-term vision, anticipating trends, the new press will not fall behind the times. The world is changing unpredictably. "With the unchanging, responding to all changes", the guiding principle of press activities is to decisively do what is beneficial to the country, and decisively avoid what is harmful to the country. Carefully consider the pros and cons, sharpen your thinking and promote more suitable channels of communication.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council
With an objective and multi-dimensional approach, the press has truthfully and vividly reflected social life in all regions of the country; promptly highlighted urgent issues on poverty reduction, environment, education, health, social security, administrative reform, anti-corruption, waste, negativity... playing the role of social supervision and criticism, detecting bottlenecks in management, policy implementation, making appropriate recommendations, helping the Party and State promptly adjust and perfect institutions and laws.
The press is only viable when it can convince the public. Resolutely fight against bad and toxic information, stop hostile arguments, and encourage the spirit of innovation. In addition, the press in the new era must integrate strongly. The development and explosion of digital media puts the press in front of great opportunities and challenges of competition. Bringing the press to cyberspace or the press actively operating and competing on social media platforms are two different approaches.
With the specific nature of the type, the difference in the audience and the way of accessing information, the press operating in cyberspace must be more flexible and dynamic. The information must be impressive, quick, concise, not cumbersome, formal; but still must maintain the viewpoint of "what needs to be said and wants to say". That is not an easy challenge. Not to mention, the current legal corridor is still incomplete, the regulations governing press activities in cyberspace are still in the draft Press Law expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the end of this year...
However, it is necessary to speed up the process of perfecting the law, especially regulations on press activities in cyberspace or the model of multi-platform press groups/agencies, to create conditions for press agencies to develop strongly, dominate the battlefield, and fulfill their leading role! Press in the new era must also take advantage of journalism technology, especially artificial intelligence AI.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province
The press has always been a communication channel between the National Assembly and the people and overseas Vietnamese. For National Assembly deputies, the press is truly a useful information channel that helps collect information on existing problems and suggestions for solutions from voters, experts, and journalists. From there, they contribute practical opinions in the work of legislation, supervision of law enforcement, and policies in practice. The press helps deputies quickly grasp emerging issues that are of public interest. On that basis, they learn more specifically and in-depth and are properly handled by the National Assembly, demonstrating the close and effective connection between the National Assembly and the people through the press.
It is time for journalists to utilize AI in their information production processes, in areas where technology can replace human labor. This clarity will create efficiency and persuasiveness, allowing press agencies to focus on competitive, core products and create their own identity.
100 years of Vietnam's revolutionary press is a milestone for the country entering a new era. The vision and messages of General Secretary To Lam are inspiring strong development at all levels, in all sectors, and at every party member, voter and citizen nationwide. Vivid reality requires the efforts of the press, contributing worthily, promoting the country to steadily move towards a rich, civilized, prosperous and happy future.
The News and People newspaper regularly updates and reports in detail and in-depth on the activities of the National Assembly and hot issues in social life that are of interest to National Assembly deputies. The newspaper is also an information channel reflecting voters' opinions and recommendations to the National Assembly, helping deputies promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people so that they can propose and implement appropriate policies. The information on the News and People newspaper is multidimensional, deeply analyzing many socio-economic issues, contributing to the work of social supervision and criticism, helping National Assembly deputies analyze issues more comprehensively, thereby improving the effectiveness of their activities.
