Discussing solutions to improve businesses' access to land to attract investment in Can Tho City

(CT) - On June 6, the Institute of Socio-Economics of Can Tho City in collaboration with the Faculty of Law - Can Tho University organized a scientific workshop on "Proposing solutions to improve land access for enterprises to attract investment in Can Tho City". The workshop attracted the participation of experts, managers, and enterprises inside and outside the city.

According to the delegates, Can Tho City is a class I city directly under the Central Government, playing a central role in the Mekong Delta region, possessing many potentials in terms of geography, infrastructure and natural resources. However, the city's investment attraction efficiency in recent times has not met expectations. One of the main reasons that can be identified is the barriers in businesses' access to land.

At the workshop, delegates presented papers on the current situation of land access for enterprises in Can Tho City; international experience and some localities in supporting enterprises in accessing land for reference for Can Tho City. On that basis, they reviewed, exchanged and discussed the current situation of land access for enterprises operating in production, business and implementing investment projects in the city. Identify bottlenecks, inadequacies, limitations and existing causes affecting the ability to access land.

Delegates proposed a number of solutions to improve the ability of enterprises to access land in Can Tho City. In particular, they mainly revolved around a number of issues such as improving the quality of planning and adjusting land use plans in a scientific manner, suitable to market demand and development orientation; perfecting the legal basis and coordination process to create clean land funds; continuing to reform administrative procedures in the land sector; speeding up the progress of determining specific land prices; preferential land policies in attracting investment; organizing dialogue conferences between the government and enterprises to listen and promptly resolve difficulties and problems for enterprises...
