Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai was elected to hold the position of Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

On June 25, at the 7th Session, under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man , the National Assembly conducted the process of electing additional members of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the National Assembly elected Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, National Assembly Delegate of the 15th term from Thai Nguyen delegation, to hold the position of Member of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly.

The resolution on election to hold the position was also voted through with 449/450 delegates participating in the vote in favor (accounting for 92.2% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai was born in 1970 in Hanoi, is Associate Professor, Doctor of Physics; Member of the Party Central Committee: 12th, 13th terms; Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee: 13th (from April 2016), 14th (to June 2020); National Assembly Delegate: 13th, 14th, 15th terms.

Before being appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee (from June 2020), Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai had a long time working in agencies of the National Assembly.

She has held the following positions: Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office; Deputy Head and then Head of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education; Head of the People's Aspirations Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

In mid-2020, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai transferred to work in the locality, holding the position of Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee and has held that position until now.

According to Article 8 of the Law on Organization of the National Assembly 2014, members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly are elected by the National Assembly from among its deputies.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly is the permanent body of the National Assembly, consisting of the Chairman of the National Assembly, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly and members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly. Members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly are full-time National Assembly deputies and are not concurrently members of the Government.
