Apple has unexpectedly re-released iOS 17.6.1 and iPadOS 17.6.1 more than two weeks after the company first released the update.

Previously on August 7, Apple released iOS 17.6.1, iPadOS 17.6.1, and macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 updates. However, the company has just unexpectedly re-released them to fix a bug that could prevent users from turning on or off the Enhanced Data Protection feature, as Apple notes on the update.

Không rõ sự khác biệt giữa hai bản cập nhật iOS 17.6.1 là gì?
Not sure what the difference is between the two iOS 17.6.1 updates?

The first update had a build number of 21G93, and the newly released version has a build number of 21G101. The new iOS 17.6.1 version is noted by Apple to fix a bug that could prevent users from turning Enhanced Data Protection on or off.

It's worth noting, however, that this note was also included when Apple first released iOS 17.6.1, so it's unclear how the new update differs from the initial release. Enhanced Data Protection is an optional setting that gives users the highest level of cloud data security from the iPhone maker.

Users can install the new iOS 17.6.1 update by going to Settings > General > Software Update and following the instructions. Those running the first version of iOS 17.6.1 may not see a prompt about the new update, while only those running iOS 17.6 or earlier will receive it.

So why was the new iOS 17.6.1 update chosen instead of iOS 17.6.2? Most likely, Apple found that the new patch was not very prominent (maybe only applied to some minor bug fixes) compared to the previous version, so the company saw no need to use a new name for its operating system.
